NC demands announcement of special economic package for Karnali State

The major opposition Nepali Congress in Karnali State Assembly has demanded with the state government to consider launching a special economic package aimed at the daily wagers in view of the nationwide lockdown.

Issuing a press statement here Friday, NC has appealed to the State government to address the issues relating to the daily wagers who are hardest hit during the lockdown enforced to contain outbreak of COVID-19. NC has also urged the government to expedite the measures aimed at prevention and risk minimization of COVID-19. Furthermore, the state government’s attention has been drawn towards sporadic supplies of daily consumables and food items to the State during the lockdown.

“It’s equally important to pay attention to the health status of the health workers and security officials too. The state government should not delay for coordination with the federal government to ensure essential medicine, equipment and human resources on time. The pandemic could be effectively contained if the federal government implements response plan in coordination with the local level,” read the statement.

Commending the Karnali State’s preparation put in place to prevent the COVID-19, NC has demanded thorough screening of the health condition of those entering Karnali State from Kathmandu and India.
