HISSAN to provide spaces to set up quarantine areas

The Higher Institutions and Secondary Schools’ Association Nepal (HISSAN) has agreed to provide spaces at its educational institutions across the country to set up quarantine areas amid coronavirus fear.

HISSAN would provide spaces with capacity of accommodating 5,000 people at its educational institutions across the country for quarantine zones in coordination with the government if need be, HISSAN Secretary Ramhari Silwal. An emergency meeting of the HISSAN on Thursday took a decision in this regard.

Classrooms and halls of educational institutions under the HISSAN would be used as quarantine zones, he said.

It has also urged its district work committees to create awareness of the virus in coordination with government bodies and other institutions.

Over the virus fear, all educational institutions across the country have been shut and examinations cancelled until April 12 acting on the government’s direction in this regard.
