‘Isolation ward’ comes into operation in state hospital

The state hospital has brought into operation a six-bed ‘isolation ward’ from today for the treatment of COVID-19 suspects.

At a press conference here today, hospital in-charge Dr Sangeeta Mishra informed that six-bed ward, two each in three rooms, has come into operation in conformity with the World Health Organization (WHO) standards. Each bed has been arranged in the distance of 100 metres from another. Four additional beds can be added as per the need, she further said.

Dr Mishra informed that the hospital has arranged measuring fever of people visiting the hospital in last 10 days, keeping soap and water for hand wash in 10 areas, operating separate fever centre, maintaining quarantine and self-quarantine for suspects, carrying out swab test and putting two ambulances standby to take the suspects to quarantine. The hospital has also brought into operation fever clinic for the past three days.

Dr Deepak Sigdel of medical department of the hospital said that arrangement was made to collect samples of the suspects and keep the latter at hospital for 48 to 72 hours until the lab reports received.
