Health test must for Indo-Nepal entry

Entry through the Indo-Nepal border is to be prohibited on both sides without a medical examination. Nepali and Indian authorities have agreed to stop entry without medical verification in order to prevent the spread of the Coronavirus.

The decision was taken following a discussion between a team led by Chief District Officer of Banke Kumar Bahadur Khadka and the Indian team led by the District Magistrate of the Bahraich district of India Shambhu Kumar. The meeting was held in Nepalgunj on Tuesday.

Accordingly, health examination will now be mandatory for anyone leaving Nepal to enter India and vice-versa. Help desks with health personnel have been set up on both the sides of the entry point to screen travelers, according to CDO Khadka.

Likewise, the local people have been urged to stop unnecessary travel across the border.

District Magistrate of Bahraich Shambhu Kumar however made it clear that the border crossing would not be closed.

Meanwhile, passenger buses on the Nepalgunj-Delhi, Nepalgunj-Himanchal, Dang-Delhi have been halted.
