Govt urged to bring special scheme to minimize COVID-19 effect in economy

Economic experts have urged the government to launch special schemes in major areas in view of the COVID-19 impact on country’s economy.

At an interaction organized by Reporters’ Club here Friday, former Vice-Chairman of the National Planning Commission, Dr Shankar Sharma, viewed tourism suffered most and foreign exchange too got dent due to COVID-19 across the globe.

Economist Professor Dr Bishwambhar Pyakurel said Nepal began incurring loss in various fronts, so government needs robust policy and practices for preparedness.

Similarly, former member of the National Planning Commission, Dr Chandramani Adhikari, viewed discussion and debate had begun how much loss the coronavirus could cause in the global economy.

Former governor of Nepal Rastra Bank, Dipendra Bahadur Chhetri, said every individual need to be careful and alert on transmission of coronavirus.
