MoFAGA asks local levels to stop big gatherings

As a part of government’s precaution measures against coronavirus, the Ministry of Federal Affairs and General Administration has asked all 753 local levels not to organise and engage in major gatherings including feasts and celebrations.

Issuing an 11-point memorandum as a call for attention to all the local governments, the Ministry has also appealed to the general public not to join such big events in order to stop possible outbreak of Covid-19.

Ministry’s joint secretary Basanta Adhikari said that the Ministry has asked the local governments to carry out frequent monitoring by deploying medical teams in the cinema halls, bus parks, party palaces and housing apartments.

Similarly, the Ministry’s has directed to effectively conduct the health checkups and screening of those entering into Nepal from the key border points.

The Ministry has requested the bodies concerned to make arrangements of separate beds in order to use in emergency keeping the capacity of all hospitals and health centres of local levels in mind, preliminary test of patients as well as to make arrangement to refer in state-level and central hospital for further test if necessary.

It also asked all local levels to issue and publicize the information regarding infection of COVID-19, its prevention and control, to make easy smooth supply of medicines, masks, sanitizer and daily essentials as well as to make market monitoring and regulation effective by coordinating with bodies concerned.

The local levels were also asked to established health desk at border points including Pashupatinagar, Kakadvitta and Jogbani as per international standard and to carry out health test of all people entering Nepal via India-Nepal border points through land route.

The Ministry also requested the local levels to inform people not to travel at border points except emergency.
