Woman survives acid attack in Kapilvastu

A woman has been subjected to an acid attack at Maharajgunj municipality-1 in Kapilvastu. The survivor is 51-year-old Bedamati Devi Gupta of the same locality.

She is out of a life-threatening condition, according to Ward Police Office Chandrauta’s Police Inspector Dipesh Kharel. The perpetrator is her neighbour Hari Naryan Barai who threw corrosive substances on her body when Gupta was insisting that he should pay for a cricket bat he had broken.

The accused is the owner of a battery repairing center. Police have confiscated five liters of acid from his shop. He is to be tried under a murder attempt case.
