Smooth relations with media: Communications Minister Dr Khatiwada

Newly appointed Minister for Communications and Information Technology Dr Yubraj Khatiwada has stressed that old media houses need to adopt new technology for the effective delivery of information. Minister Khatiwada said it while assuming the office for the second time at the ministry on Wednesday.

Cooperation from all sides is imperative to make ministry’s relations with press harmonious, he said, adding that the ministry would make its relations healthy and harmonious with press- both in policy and practice. He also pointed out the need how the ministry could work together with the private media as well.

"Information Technology (IT) has huge potential in modern society. We are also in need of modernizing our society, country. IT is equally important for economic development and good governance," he opined.

The Ministry’s role is important to build digital Nepal, according to him. He assured that transparency would be maintained in purchase and development activities.

"I encourage and guide the employees working in my leadership", he vowed.

Dr Khatiwada, whose term as the member of the National Assembly expired yesterday, has been reappointed to the post of Finance Minister and Minister for Communications and Information Technology on Wednesday.
