Implement SC’s verdict to save Phewa Lake: CJ Rana

Chief Justice (CJ) Cholendra Shumsher Rana on Sunday asked the stakeholders for the implementation of the verdict of the SC to conserve the Phewa Lake. He said he had advised the chief secretary of the government to take initiatives to bring back the lake to its previous shape by taking back the encroached land.

The CJ was speaking at a programme organised here by the High Court Bar Association, Pokhara.

Expressing his hope that the apex court’s verdict to conserver the lake would be enforced, he urged all people and stakeholders to make their efforts in this regard. Work was on to figure out the exact area of the lake by deploying the Director General of the Survey Department, he said.

In another context, he urged the law practitioners to stick to their professionalism while stating that judges found involved in irregularities and delay in service delivery would not escape action.
