State level martial art festival kicked off

The State 1-level martial arts festival has commenced at the Tiger Playground at local Katari Bazaar here today.

Around 600 players from 14 districts in State 1are participating in the event which will run till February 29, coordinator of the organising main committee Deepak Tamang said.

The festival organised by Katari Municipality will feature competitions in shiterio karate, taek-won-do and wushu departments. Martial art players of various battalions of the Nepal Army in the State 1 will also participate in the competitions.

The players will be vying for 14 gold medals and 28 silver and bronze medals towards wushu, 12 gold and 24 silver and bronze medals towards taek-won-do and 12 gold medals and 24 silver and bronze medals towards wushu.

Katari municipality’s mayor Gyanendra Shrestha said the martial art festival has been organised to develop tourism in Katari through sports.
