Federal govt has highly prioritized development of Terai-Madhesh: President Bhandari

– Uttam Kumar Upadhyay

President Bidya Devi Bhandari has asserted that the Maulapur Madhani Mahayagya (a grand religious worshipping event organized at Maulapur) would help further augment the importance of the Madhani Festival. Madhani Festival, which is observed by worshipping Lord Shiva, is celebrated only in Bara, Parsa and Rautahat districts of the country.

Inaugurating the Maulapur Madhani Mahayagya at Pataura in Maulapur Rural Municipality in Rautahat today, President Bhandari expressed her confidence that the remnants of very ancient Shiva Temple spotted at Pataura in the district would help in promoting local tourism.

Also, expressing her confidence that the historical remnant would also aid in the promotion of Visit Nepal Year 2020, President Bhandari lauded the ‘Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao’ (Save girls, Educate girls) campaign spearheaded by the State No 2 government. The campaign is an insurance scheme amounting to Rs 300,000 to encourage girl’s education in the State.

Speaking of the need to weed out social aberrations and anomalies prevailing in our societies in all forms, Bhandari asserted that the government was ever ready to accord high regard to the children, women and senior citizens.

The Head of the State urged the state no 2 government to emphasize industrial development by promoting technical and vocational education for job creation. She also appealed to the state government to advance the cause of literacy as well as the physical infrastructure to promote tourism of the State.

On a different note, Bhandari said that the government had drawn more strength from the locals’ support for the construction of the second international airport at Nijgadh which, she believed, would contribute in attracting more foreign guests to Nepal.

The President was confident that the completion of Kathmandu-Nijgadh Fast Track and International Airport in Nijgadh would facilitate in luring more foreign tourists to the State No 2.

She also shared that the federal government had accorded top priority to the development of Terai-Madhesh and had underlined projects as modernization of agriculture, promotion of healthcare centres, construction of Postal Highway, Modern Integrated Settlement and People Housing Programme among others.

Echoing with the President, Chief Minister of Province No 2 Lal Babu Raut said that the Mahayagya would help in promotion of tourism in State No 2.

On the occasion, Maulapur Municipality Mayor Reena Shah and local teacher Sanjaya Shah shed light on the importance of the Madhani Festival.

During the inaugural function, cultural processions related to Medhani Festival were performed. The religious event will go through February 24, according to Tribhuvan Shah, State Assembly member from Nepal Communist Party.

In presence in the inaugural of the Mahayagya were the Chief of State No 2, federal parliamentarians, province assembly members, chiefs and deputy chiefs of the local units in Rautahat, Bara and Parsa districts and the locals.
