AFP wins Dhorpatan Double League Women Volleyball competition

The Armed Police Force (AFP)’s team has won the 15th edition of Dhorpatan Double League Women Volleyball competition defeating Nepal Police Club’s team.

In the final match held at the Dhorpatan Sports Club’s ground at New Buspark in Kathmandu on Wednesday, AFP beat Nepal Police Club in straight sets of 3-0.

This is the second consecutive win of the AFP in this competition. AFP beat Nepal Police Club (NPC) by 25-21, 25-21 and 25-19. AFP collected 41 points in 14 matches while NPC garnered 39 points.

The AFP was awarded with Rs 400,000 cash prize while first runner-up NPC got Rs 250,000. Tribhuvan Army Club (TAC), which stood third in the competition, took home a purse of Rs 105,000 while New Diamond finished fourth and was rewarded with Rs 75,000.

TAC defeated New Diamond by 25-21, 25-14 and 25-14.

Altogether 10 teams had vied in the competition organized by the Dhorpatan Sports Club.

NA’s Sophia declared the best player

TAC’s Sophia Pun has been declared the best player in the 15th edition of Dhorpatan Double League Women Volleyball competition. She was awarded with a scooter. Likewise, New Diamond’s Salina Shrestha was awarded with ‘Player of the Year’. She was also rewarded with the scooter.

Nepal Police Club’s Usha Bhandari was announced ‘Rising Sports player’ and APF’s Binita Budhathoki got the ‘Great Achievement’ award. They were also awarded with one scooter each.

Among the spectators, Anil Budhathoki was selected through lucky draw. He received a motorcycle.

APF’s Saraswati Chaudhary became the best spiker, AFP’s Mahesh Chaudhary was named the best coach. New Diamond’s Aruna Shahi was declared the best setter, TAC’s Sunita Khadka got the best blocker award. NPC’s Manisha Chaudhary and Shantikala Tamang were declared the best server and the best defender respectively.

All the winners were awarded with a purse of Rs 7,000 each.
