Isolated treatment for virus infected: Health Minister

Minister for Health and Population Bhanu Bhakta Dhakal has said that the government was thinking of establishing a separate treatment centre outside of the hospital for treatment people suspected of carrying the corona virus. As the virus could be transmitted from the infected to another person between two to fourteen days of the infection, a dedicated centre would be established for the treatment of such people.

The existing health training centres in different parts of the country could be used to set up such dedicated medical facilities, he said, in a conversation with RSS here today. The centres will depend on the number of patients.

The Health Minister also shared that an isolation centre with more than 100-bed capacity was in a ready-position, along with a 25-bed mobile hospital. The government has adopted all measures possible to protect its citizens from the virus, while a help desk has been established at the international airport to screen incoming travelers.

The World Health Organization standards, recommendations and directives are being implemented. Of the five people suspected of carrying the virus in Nepal, three tested negative while two are under observation, Minister Dhakal said.

The Health Minister also shared that necessary homework was being done to bring back Nepali students in China.
