Impartial probe on Medical Commission Vice-Chair Giri demanded

Education and health activist Bijaya Thapa has demanded an unbiased probe into the graft case lodged against the National Medical Education Commission (NMEC) Vice-Chair Dr Shree Krishna Giri.

At a press conference organized by Thapa here Friday, Thapa called the attention of concerned authorities and demanded an impartial investigation.

Urging the concerned authority to take action against the accused one if proven guilty, Thapa warned, "I will stage hunger strike if a probe into the graft case against Dr Giri is not launched and action not taken until February 5."

He expressed his qualm that various conspiracies were hatched to protect Dr Giri and B and C Hospital’s Board member Durga Prasai threatened of legal action.

Giri has been accused of demanding Rs 200 million for granting affiliation to a medical college.

Furthermore, Thapa ranted, "No action has been taken against Giri, who is accused of graft while he, who has been demanding justice, was threatened of legal action. This is utter malpractice."
