Hundreds of portraits of culture expert Joshi

Expert on culture Satya Mohan Joshi has been a muse to as many as 300 painters who portrayed various facets of him in a painting competition organized here Wednesday.

In the painting competition jointly organized by Shree Shanti Bidyashram and Young Picasso in honour of Joshi, 180 painters below 13 age, 110 artists from open category and 20 guest artists participated.

Sushan Jati stood first while Sarved Maharjan got the second prize while Samridhha Rana became third in the competition below 13 year category. They were awarded with Rs 12,000; Rs 8,000 and Rs 5,000 respectively.

Similarly, Roshan Dangol became first, Sushan Maharjan stood second and Subodh Simba got the third prize under the open category, receiving Rs 20,000, Rs 15,000 and Rs 10,000 respectively.

Likewise, senior artist Govinda Narayan Jyapu was honoured with Centenarian National Fine Arts Award-2020. The honour carries a purse of Rs 10,100.

Awarding the winners, Speaker of the House of Representative (HoR) Agni Prasad Sapkota said these portraits of Joshi would always help Joshi remain alive.

The best portraits of Joshi would be kept on display for the public from February 7 to 10 this year at Patan Museum, informed porgramme director Ajaya Desharan.

Programme Coordinator Bal Mukunda Acharya shared that during the exhibition, paintings made by children from various 80 countries will be put on display.
