Lawmaker Komal Oli raps police for misusing power

Nepal Communist Party (NCP) lawmaker Komal Oli has defended singer Astha Raut accusing the Nepal Police of misusing its rights in the name of investigations.

In the special hour of the National Assembly (NA) meeting today, lawmaker Oli said that the order of the District Administration Office to keep Raut in custody for four days without investigation was erroneous.

"The criminal justice principle states to listen first and then to imprison. It should be looked if anyone has committed illegal act. That was a minor issue of verbal exchanges. The police has misused its rights without probe," she said.

Likewise, Nepali Congress lawmaker Prakash Pantha drew attention of the government towards the combative measures of corona virus spreading in neighbouring country China.

Also at the special hour, CPN lawmaker Balram Banskota raised voice on scientific land reform and land management provision.

Lawmakers Kamala Kumari Oli, Brishesh Chandra Lal, Jiban Budha and Dhan Kumari Khadka made their comments on local development, democratic cultures, small farmer-focused grants and others.
