Elephant found dead in Jhapa

A wild elephant was found dead at Hariyali Community Forest at Kachankawal Rural Municipality-3 in Jhapa district on Sunday.

According to the Division Forest Office, Jhapa, the local users’ committee members informed the Division Forest Office after noticing the case. Forest employees, police personnel and veterinary doctor at the Livestock Service Office, Jhapa, had reached the incident site.

Chief at the Division Forest Office, Bishnu Lal Ghimire, said that the elephant could have died some 20 days ago. A total of 10 wild elephants died in Jhapa in the last one decade. Of them, three died this year.
