TRC and CIEDP officers administered oath of office and secrecy

The newly elected officer bearers for the Truth and Reconciliation Commission (TRC) and Commission for Investigation on Enforced Disappearance Persons (CIEDP) have taken oath of office and secrecy here today.

Chief Justice Cholendra Shumsher JBR administered the oath to Dr Ganesh Dutta Bhatta as Chairperson of TRC and Yuwaraj Subedi as Chairperson of the CIEDP amid a programme organized at the Supreme Court.

On the same occasion, the Chief Justice also sworn in newly appointed members of the TRC Prachandaman Pradhan, Dr Govinda Gautam, Man Dahal and Bishnu Pokharel and newly appointed members for CIEDP Bishwa Prakash Bhandari, Gangadhar Adhikari, Sunil Ranjana Singh and Sarita Thapa.

The recommendation committee led by former Chief Justice Om Prakash Mishra had recommended the candidates for the both Commissions last Saturday. The latest appointments have filled the void in the both transitional justice mechanisms, without officer-bearers for a long time.

Likewise, the newly sworn office-bearers of both Commissions held a meeting with the Minister for Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Bhanu Bhakta Dhakal today itself.

Minister Dhakal urged the newly appointed members to fulfill their responsibilities in line with the related Acts and conclude the peace process of Nepal logically. He also assured them of government’s full cooperation for the Commissions’ works.
