Belgian princess Astrid on a tour of Chitwan National Park

Belgian Princess Astrid is now on a tour of Chitwan National Park. She is enjoying the visit.

The Bagmati State government’s ministry of industry, tourism, forest and environment and the Bharatpur Metropolitan City welcomed the Belgian royal guest at one of the entry gate to the park at Meghauli on Wednesday evening.

The Bagmati State Government organized a dinner in her honour in the evening. On the occasion, the State’s minister for industry, tourism, forest and environment Arun Prasad Nepal informed the Princess about the tourism destinations in the Bagmati State including Chitwan National Park.

Bharatpur Metropolitan City mayor Renu Dahal, Princess Astrid’s husband Lorenz and members of her delegation, representatives of the Federal Government’s ministry of tourism and the ministry of foreign affairs, Nepal’s ambassador to Belgium, Lok Bahadur Thapa, among other dignitaries attended the dinner.

Ambassador Thapa said Princess Astrid and the Belgian delegation accompanying her is scheduled to go on a private tour of the National Park the whole day today. The Princess and her delegation will go on a boat ride and jungle safari.

Chitwan National Park is home to the one-horned rhino, the Royal Bengal Tiger, gharial crocodile, many species of birds and butterflies. It is also dotted with big lakes and wetland.

The Belgian Princess arrived in Nepal on a weeklong visit on January 19. She will travel to Kathmandu from here on Friday and leave for Belgium from Kathmandu on Saturday.
