Strengthening of community schools imperative: Education Minister Pokhrel

Minister for Education, Science and Technology, Giriraj Mani Pokhrel, has said community schools must be strengthened.

At a seminar on ‘community school reform’ organized by Gaushala municipality here today, Minister Pokhrel viewed time has come to link education to skills and contribute to the national development.

"Education limiting to certificate does not bear success, it must be able to produce globally competitive human resources. For it to happen, education must be scientific and technical," he stressed.

According to him, such seminar would be held at all 753 local levels. The suggestions garnered from the seminar would be useful to bring reform in the current education system.

In another context, the Minister urged the teachers must remain away from politics. However, the role they played on different times must not be belittled, Pokhrel reminded.

On the occasion, Chief of District Education and Coordination Unit Committee, Shatrughna Prasad Yadav, said reform in school education would help achieve prosperity.

The State Assembly member Bharat Prasad Saha viewed modernization of education was essential to fit the spirit of digital age.
