Dr Bhatta recommended for TRC, Subedi for CIEDP

The search committee formed under former Chief Justice Om Prakash Mishra has recommended names for the Truth and Reconciliation Commission (TRC) and Commission of Investigation for Enforced Disappeared Persons (CIEDP). The two commissions have remained vacant for the past nine months.

The committee made recommendations to the government today through Minister for Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Bhanubhakta Dhakal, Ministry’s assistant spokesperson Kamalraj Gautam said.

It is informed that Dr Ganesh Datta Bhatta’s name was recommended as the Chairperson for TRC and Yubraj Subedi for CIEDP.

Committee’s member Sharmila Karki confirmed that five members have been recommended in each commission and the names were submitted to the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers through the Ministry of Law.

The government had formed a five-member search committee on last March.
