Besishahar drinking water project expanded

Consumers of Besishahar municipality have now been benefitted from drinking water facility with the expansion of the Besisahar Water Supply Project.

The project expanded after the construction of a satellite project which brought water from Bhachowk rivulet located at Bajhkhet of Besishahar municipality-10, to be supplied to additional wards in Besisahar.

The project was constructed at joint investment of Government of Nepal and Besishahar Drinking Water and Sanitation Consumers’ Committee.

A water tank with 830,000 liters capacity has been constructed at Chandidanda for the same.

The Consumers’ Committee has been distributing water at 2,600 taps. Around 70,000 people of ward no 7, 8, 9 and 10 have been benefitted from the project.

Chairperson of Consumers’ Committee, Krishna Kumar Pradhan, said that water is being distributed in Besishahar municipality from the water tank constructed at Chandidanda after the water distributed at Besishahar earlier was not enough for the locals.

Earlier some 40,000 people were benefitted from the water facility distributed in the area. Chair Pradhan said that Besishahar would not face water problem till next 20 years due to the recently constructed water project. Besishahar has started to get drinking water facility since 2050 BS.

The drinking water project was constructed at a cost of 2.88 million with the government providing 70 per cent and consumers contributing 30 per cent of the investment.
