NC needs self-sensitization to check suppression on civil rights

Nepali Congress (NC) general secretary Dr Shashank Koirala highlighted the need of self-sensitization among its leaders and cadres to check possible suppression on civil rights.

Dr Koirala said this at a condolence meet organized by NC Mahottari at Manarashishawa municipality-9, Bathnaha to mourn the passing away of party general council (Mahasamiti) member Lalan Kumar Roy.

On the occasion, he asserted it was the main responsibility of the NC to safeguard the hard-earned political achievements of the country.

NC central members Deepak Giri, Kalyan Gurung, Ram Krishna Yadav and Sarita Prasain, NC Mahottari President Mahendra Kumar Roy and Sindhuli President Ujjwal Baral, among others offered tributes to Roy.

Likewise, Rastriya Janata Party central leader Sunil Kumar Rohit, Manarashishawa municipality mayor Sanjaya Kumar Singh and leaders and cadres of various political parties paid tributes to Roy highlighting his contributions to the democratic movements of Nepal.

Fifty-seven-year-old Roy, who was a veteran democratic leader of the area, died in a road accident at Bardibas-5 on last January 7.
