Main opposition Nepali Congress has demanded reduction of internet cost and made it accessible to everyone by encouraging competitive engagement of private sector.
Internet cost is much expensive in comparison to other South Asian countries so it needs to be revised, stated a press release issued by NC today.
The main opposition drew its attention on the recent cabinet decision in connection with Telecom Company. NC also urges the government not to impose any discrimination on competitive companies while promoting private sector.
Issuing the press release, NC Spokesperson Biswo Prakash Sharma said there is no disagreement on government’s policy towards promoting private sector but NC is concerned on discrimination imposed on competitive companies while nurturing private sector.
The government should oversee and regulate due diligence of the concerned company, revenue payment to the state and social responsibility in an effective manner, the press release noted.
NC has accused the government of breaking the established procedure being not serious to due diligence of the companies of late.
NC has commented that the government was not serious to recover debts taking into considerations the decision of Nepal Telecom Authority, Supreme Court’s order on NTA decision and parliamentary Finance Committee’s directives while licensing some companies.
