Thaha is a Municipality, which is located in Makwanpur district, Province No. 3 of Nepal. Thaha has total 12 wards, which are scattered across 191 square kilometers of geographical area. According to 2011 Census conducted by Central Bureau of Statistics (CBS), Thaha Municipality had total population of 41,623.

As of 2011, 1,129 population in Thaha Municipality were absent from their households, which equals to 2.71 percent of the total population. Absence of males was 1,029, which equals to 5.19 percent of total 19,811 males. Same as, 100 females were absent, which equals to 0.46 percent of 21,812 females. At least one member of 945 (10.58 percent) households were absent.

As illustrated in the charts, the ratio of absentee population was 35.87, while male to female absentee population ratio was 10.29. Same as, the household ratio of present vs. absent population was 8.45.

In terms of age, the largest population in Thaha Municipality were between 10 and 14 years of age with total 5,606. Gender wise, there were 2,821 males and 2,785 females of the same age group. The least populated age group was between 70 and 74 with total 737 population, which consistes of 384 males and 353 females. Top 5 most populated age groups were between 10 and 14 (5,606), between 5 and 9 (4,886), between 15 and 19 (4,807), below 4 (3,583), between 20 and 24 (3,540) with total population of 22,422. In contrast, bottom 5 least populated age groups were between 70 and 74 (737), between 65 and 69 (1,005), above 75 (1,008), between 60 and 64 (1,244), and between 55 and 59 (1,406) with total population of 5,400. The median age-group of total population falls between 35 and 39 and between 40 and 44 with average population of 2,267.

Gender wise, top 5 most age groups male population were between 10 and 14 (2,821), between 5 and 9 (2,465), between 15 and 19 (2,188), below 4 (1,792), and between 20 and 24 (1,437), with total population of 10,703. In contrast, bottom 5 least age group male population were between 70 and 74 (384), above 75 (510), between 65 and 69 (512),between 60 and 64 (623), and between 55 and 59 (725), with total population of 2,754. With regards to female population, top 5 age groups females were between 10 and 14 (2,785), between 15 and 19 (2,619), between 5 and 9 (2,421), between 20 and 24 (2,103), and below 4 (1,791), with total population of 11,719. In contrast, bottom 5 least age group male population were between 70 and 74 (353), between 65 and 69 (493), above 75 (498),between 60 and 64 (621), and between 55 and 59 (681), with total population of 2,646.

The population with age-group 70 to 74 had male to female ratio of 1.09, which states that this age group had maximum males as compared to females. Similarly, age-group 20 to 24 had most female population as compared to male population with male to female ratio of 0.68. The age-groups 70 to 74, 55 to 59, 65 to 69, 5 to 9, above 75, 10 to 14, 50 to 54 had majority of male population while age-groups 45 to 49, 40 to 44, 15 to 19, 35 to 39, 30 to 34, 25 to 29, 20 to 24 had majority of female population as per male-female ratios. Moreover, age-groups below 4, 60 to 64 had eqivalent or almost equal numbers of male and female population with male-female ratios of 1.

There were 59.58 % (24,798 ) of independent population, the working age people between ages of 15 and 64 years. The dependent children, ages below 15 years, were 33.82 % with total number of 14,075. The dependent elderly population, aged 65 and above were 6.61 % with total number of 2,750. As such, total dependent population including children and elderly people were 40.42 with total number of 16,825

There were 11,214 women of child-bearing age-group of 15 to 49 years. Same as, the todlers or children of 4 years or below were 3,583. The ratio of woman of child-bearing age and the number of todlers state that, approximately 320 children were born per 1,000 women. This number is also roughly used as fertility levels when direct measures of births are not available.

According to Nepal Government records as of 2017, there were total 6,865 in Thaha Municipality with 3,258 (47.46%) of males and 3,607 (52.54%) females. There were total 66 schools. In average, 104 students were studying in each school.

Mostly spoken language in Thaha is Tamang, which is spoken by 18,803 people. The Thaha has people who speak other languages, such as Nepali, Newar, Lapcha, Bhojpuri, Magar, Maithili, Gurung, Tharu, Sign Language, Urdu, Rai, etc.

Out of total population, 9,686 female speaks Tamang language, while 9,117 male speaks Tamang language.Details information about languages spoken by male and female groups of population has been illustrated in the table.

According to 2011 census conducted by Central Bureau of Statistics (CBS), Thaha Municipality was inhabitted by mostly the people of Tamang caste with total population of 19,657. There were as little as Yadav caste with population of as little as 11 in total. People of several other castes who live in Thaha are Newar, Chhetri, Brahmin - Hill, Magar, Kami, Gurung, Thakuri, Damai/Dholi, Gharti/Bhujel, Sarki, Kalwar, Sunuwar, Ghale, Muslim, Sanyasi/Dashnami, Dalit Others, Tharu, Rai, Hajam/Thakur, Teli, Yadav, etc. Only the population of castes with above 1,000 population are illustrated in the table.

Top five castes of people in Thaha Municipality are Tamang (19,657), Newar (8,372), Chhetri (8,045), Brahmin - Hill (1,806) and Magar (853) with total population of 38,733, which forms 93.06 percent out of total population of 41,623 in Thaha Municipality.

Out of total population of 41,623, there were total 705 (1.69%) disabled persons in Thaha Municipality with 404 (57.30%) males and 301 (42.70%) females. The physically disabled persons were 253, while mentally disabled people were 51 and intellectually disabled were 34.

Similarly, there were 107 people who were blind and 102 people were deaf, while 6 people were both blind and deaf. Moreover, 105 persons had reported of having speech problems. Total 47 people had multiple disabilities.

Out of total 8928 households in Thaha Municipality, there were 8,488 houses that were founded on mud bonded while 251 houses were cement bonded. Same as, 85 households were reported of being founded on RCC piller, 82houses were founded on wood.

With respect to wall of the houses, 8,297 houses were mud bonded, 512 houses were cement bonded, 52 houses were wood planks bonded, 15 houses were bamboo bonded and 3 houses had unbaked bricks on their outer walls.Rest of the houses were reported of having other types of outer wall, while some of them reported nothing of having the outer wall bonding.

There were several types of house roofs reported. Total 427 houses were reported of having thatch roofs while 6,812 houses had galvanized roofs. Similarly, 1,124 houses had roof of tile, 377 houses had RCC roofs, 6 houses had roof of woods while 1 houses were reported having roof of mud. As per 2011 CBS census, some of the houses had other types of roofs while some didn't report about the roof structure.

With respect to the toilets, 3,707 out of 8,928 houses didn't report of having a private toilet for their households. Nevertheless, 3,908 houses were reported of having flush toilet while 1,296 houses reported having ordinary toilets.

In Thaha Municipality, there were total 8,240 houses, which were equiped with piped tap water resources while 6 houses were reported of having tubewell water facilities. Same as, 27 houses had covered well while 320 houses didn't have any cover on their tubewell. Other resources of water facilities were spout water (253) and river stream (41), which were reported of the household's source of water.

With reference to source of fuel, 7,995 households reported their source of fuel as firewood while 67 households had kerosene as their fuel source. The LP gas was used by 764 households as a source of fuel. Moreover, other sources of fuel were cow dung (6), bio-gas (59), fuel electricity (11), etc.

Same as, total 7,425 households had reported of having electricity as the source of their household's lighting. The households still using kerosene as source of light were 1,065, while 399 households used solar energy as source of lights. Total 0 households also reported of using bio-gas as a source of light. The ratio of use of electricity as compared to other source of light was 0.83.

out of 8,928 households in Thaha Municipality, 1,043 houses reported of having no any facility in their household while 7,722 households reported of using at least one facility. Households using at least one facility, such as radio, television, internet, etc. have been illustrated in the table below.MobilePhone was used by the maximum households with total users of 6,166, while Radio was the next mostly used facilities with total household users of 5,837.

According to 2018 Economic Census, there are total 1,347 establishments in Thaha Municipality that are involved in various economic activities. In those establishments, total 3,254 persons are engaged for the economic activities, as a self-employed or an employee, with total male engagement of 1,974 and female engagement of 1,280 persons.In every business, there were an average of 2.42 people engaged with average males are 1.47 and females are 0.95. The ratio of male to female engagement in the establishments are 1.54, which means as many as 1.54 males are enagement in the economic activities per female.
