In 2017 election of Tatopani Rural Municipality (Jumla district), candidate Nava Raj Neupane of Nepal Communist Party (Maoist) (CPN (M)) secured 2,391 (48.45%) votes out of total votes of 4,935 and was elected as a Chairman. The first runner-up candidate was Surat Bahadur Shahi of Nepal Communist Party (Unified Marxist-Leninist) (CPN (UML)) who secured 2,070 (28.26%) of votes. The rest of 4 candidates for the position of Chairman secured combined 474 (4.80) of votes.
Similarly, for the position of Vice-Chairman, candidate Ganga Devi Upadhyay of Nepal Communist Party (Maoist) (CPN (M)) secured 1,964 (38.43%) and was elected as a Vice-Chairman, while Narayani Chaulagain of Nepal Communist Party (Unified Marxist-Leninist) (CPN (UML)) secured 1,906 (26.94%) of votes and came in second position. Other 4 candidates who contested for Vice-Chairman secured combined 1,241 (12.14) of votes.

As illustrated in the pie chart, there were total 139 candidates contested in various positions with gender ratio of 87 (62.59%) males and 52 (37.41%) females. Moreover, there were total 34 candidates contested for ward chairman positions in 8 wards. Same as, total 48 candidates had contested for ward member positions while 26 females and 19 females from depressed group (dalit) had contested for female member position in each ward.
