Tamankhola is a Rural Municipality, which is located in Baglung district, Gandaki Province of Nepal. Tamankhola has total 6 wards, which are scattered across 178 square kilometers of geographical area. According to 2011 Census conducted by Central Bureau of Statistics (CBS), Tamankhola Rural Municipality had total population of 10,659.

As of 2011, 1,249 population in Tamankhola Rural Municipality were absent from their households, which equals to 11.72 percent of the total population. Absence of males was 1,209, which equals to 25.85 percent of total 4,677 males. Same as, 40 females were absent, which equals to 0.67 percent of 5,982 females. At least one member of 1,051 (43.39 percent) households were absent.

In contrast, bottom 5 least age group male population were between 70 and 74 (108), between 65 and 69 (116), above 75 (135),between 60 and 64 (144), and between 40 and 44 (166), with total population of 669. With regards to female population, top 5 age groups females were between 10 and 14 (754), between 5 and 9 (669), below 4 (650), between 15 and 19 (644), and between 20 and 24 (545), with total population of 3,262. In contrast, bottom 5 least age group male population were between 70 and 74 (102), above 75 (126), between 65 and 69 (140),between 60 and 64 (189), and between 50 and 54 (222), with total population of 779.

The population with age-group above 75 had male to female ratio of 1.07, which states that this age group had maximum males as compared to females. Similarly, age-group 20 to 24 had most female population as compared to male population with male to female ratio of 0.43. The age-groups above 75, 70 to 74 had majority of male population while age-groups 5 to 9, 10 to 14, 55 to 59, 15 to 19, 65 to 69, 60 to 64, 45 to 49, 35 to 39, 40 to 44, 30 to 34, 25 to 29, 20 to 24 had majority of female population as per male-female ratios. Moreover, age-groups below 4, 50 to 54 had eqivalent or almost equal numbers of male and female population with male-female ratios of 1.

The ratio of woman of child-bearing age and the number of todlers state that, approximately 450 children were born per 1,000 women. This number is also roughly used as fertility levels when direct measures of births are not available.

According to Nepal Government records as of 2017, there were total 12,562 in Tamankhola Rural Municipality with 5,987 (47.66%) of males and 6,575 (52.34%) females. There were total 23 schools. In average, 546 students were studying in each school.

There were as little as Sarki caste with population of as little as 29 in total. People of several other castes who live in Tamankhola are Magar, Chhantyal/Chhantel, Chhetri, Damai/Dholi, Brahmin - Hill, Thakali, Sarki, etc. Only the population of castes with above 1,000 population are illustrated in the table.

Top five castes of people in Tamankhola Rural Municipality are Kami (5,980), Magar (2,837), Chhantyal/Chhantel (1,320), Chhetri (241) and Damai/Dholi (95) with total population of 10,473, which forms 98.25 percent out of total population of 10,659 in Tamankhola Rural Municipality.

Out of total population of 10,659, there were total 232 (2.18%) disabled persons in Tamankhola Rural Municipality with 123 (53.02%) males and 109 (46.98%) females. The physically disabled persons were 108, while mentally disabled people were 8 and intellectually disabled were 2.

Out of total 2422 households in Tamankhola Rural Municipality, there were 2,363 houses that were founded on mud bonded while 14 houses were cement bonded. Same as, 0 households were reported of being founded on RCC piller, 29houses were founded on wood.

With respect to wall of the houses, 2,339 houses were mud bonded, 32 houses were cement bonded, 26 houses were wood planks bonded, 4 houses were bamboo bonded and 0 houses had unbaked bricks on their outer walls.Rest of the houses were reported of having other types of outer wall, while some of them reported nothing of having the outer wall bonding.

There were several types of house roofs reported. Total 269 houses were reported of having thatch roofs while 27 houses had galvanized roofs. Similarly, 2,105 houses had roof of tile, 2 houses had RCC roofs, 2 houses had roof of woods while 0 houses were reported having roof of mud. As per 2011 CBS census, some of the houses had other types of roofs while some didn't report about the roof structure.

With respect to the toilets, 1,498 out of 2,422 houses didn't report of having a private toilet for their households. Nevertheless, 305 houses were reported of having flush toilet while 604 houses reported having ordinary toilets.

In Tamankhola Rural Municipality, there were total 2,062 houses, which were equiped with piped tap water resources while 1 houses were reported of having tubewell water facilities. Same as, 17 houses had covered well while 114 houses didn't have any cover on their tubewell. Other resources of water facilities were spout water (166) and river stream (46), which were reported of the household's source of water.

With reference to source of fuel, 2,399 households reported their source of fuel as firewood while 3 households had kerosene as their fuel source. The LP gas was used by 2 households as a source of fuel. Moreover, other sources of fuel were cow dung (1), bio-gas (1), fuel electricity (0), etc.

Same as, total 1,905 households had reported of having electricity as the source of their household's lighting. The households still using kerosene as source of light were 316, while 13 households used solar energy as source of lights. Total 0 households also reported of using bio-gas as a source of light. The ratio of use of electricity as compared to other source of light was 0.79.

out of 2,422 households in Tamankhola Rural Municipality, 378 houses reported of having no any facility in their household while 1,800 households reported of using at least one facility. Households using at least one facility, such as radio, television, internet, etc. have been illustrated in the table below.Radio was used by the maximum households with total users of 1,674, while MobilePhone was the next mostly used facilities with total household users of 391.

According to 2018 Economic Census, there are total 248 establishments in Tamankhola Rural Municipality that are involved in various economic activities. In those establishments, total 612 persons are engaged for the economic activities, as a self-employed or an employee, with total male engagement of 326 and female engagement of 286 persons.In every business, there were an average of 2.47 people engaged with average males are 1.31 and females are 1.15. The ratio of male to female engagement in the establishments are 1.14, which means as many as 1.14 males are enagement in the economic activities per female.
