Surma Rural Municipality (Bajhang) Election Results 2017
In 2017 election of Surma Rural Municipality (Bajhang district), candidate Nar Bahadur Bohara of Nepali Congress Party (NC) secured 1,748 (50.14%) votes out of total votes of 3,486 and was elected as a Chairman. The first runner-up candidate was Sher Bahadur Bohara of Nepal Communist Party (Unified Marxist-Leninist) (CPN (UML)) who secured 1,686 (32.21%) of votes. The rest of 1 candidates for the position of Chairman secured combined 52 (0.75) of votes.
Similarly, for the position of Vice-Chairman, candidate Samita Kumari Bohara (pujara) of Nepali Congress Party (NC) secured 1,741 (50.07%) and was elected as a Vice-Chairman, while Mata Devi Bohara of Nepal Communist Party (Unified Marxist-Leninist) (CPN (UML)) secured 1,695 (32.48%) of votes and came in second position. Other 1 candidates who contested for Vice-Chairman secured combined 41 (0.59) of votes.

As illustrated in the pie chart, there were total 62 candidates contested in various positions with gender ratio of 40 (64.52%) males and 22 (35.48%) females. Moreover, there were total 13 candidates contested for ward chairman positions in 5 wards. Same as, total 24 candidates had contested for ward member positions while 12 females and 7 females from depressed group (dalit) had contested for female member position in each ward.
