Sunapati Rural Municipality (Ramechhap) Election Results 2017
In 2017 election of Sunapati Rural Municipality (Ramechhap district), candidate Dhawa Lama of Nepal Communist Party (Maoist) (CPN (M)) secured 4,736 (46.80%) votes out of total votes of 10,120 and was elected as a Chairman. The first runner-up candidate was Jitendra Kumar Moktan of Nepali Congress Party (NC) who secured 3,966 (26.70%) of votes. The rest of 3 candidates for the position of Chairman secured combined 1,418 (7.01) of votes.
Similarly, for the position of Vice-Chairman, candidate Geeta Bista (chaulagain) of Nepal Communist Party (Maoist) (CPN (M)) secured 4,822 (48.87%) and was elected as a Vice-Chairman, while Binita Khadka of Nepali Congress Party (NC) secured 3,733 (25.41%) of votes and came in second position. Other 3 candidates who contested for Vice-Chairman secured combined 1,312 (6.65) of votes.

As illustrated in the pie chart, there were total 106 candidates contested in various positions with gender ratio of 64 (60.38%) males and 42 (39.62%) females. Moreover, there were total 24 candidates contested for ward chairman positions in 5 wards. Same as, total 37 candidates had contested for ward member positions while 20 females and 15 females from depressed group (dalit) had contested for female member position in each ward.
