Siraha is a Municipality, which is located in Siraha district, Province No. 2 of Nepal. Siraha has total 22 wards, which are scattered across 94 square kilometers of geographical area. According to 2011 Census conducted by Central Bureau of Statistics (CBS), Siraha Municipality had total population of 82,531.

As of 2011, 8,605 population in Siraha Municipality were absent from their households, which equals to 10.43 percent of the total population. Absence of males was 8,561, which equals to 21.56 percent of total 39,706 males. Same as, 44 females were absent, which equals to 0.10 percent of 42,825 females. At least one member of 6,611 (42.71 percent) households were absent.

As illustrated in the charts, the ratio of absentee population was 8.59, while male to female absentee population ratio was 194.57. Same as, the household ratio of present vs. absent population was 1.34.

In terms of age, the largest population in Siraha Municipality were between 5 and 9 years of age with total 11,748. Gender wise, there were 6,013 males and 5,735 females of the same age group. The least populated age group was above 75 with total 1,028 population, which consistes of 544 males and 484 females. Top 5 most populated age groups were between 5 and 9 (11,748), between 10 and 14 (11,474), below 4 (9,381), between 15 and 19 (7,549), between 20 and 24 (6,228) with total population of 46,380. In contrast, bottom 5 least populated age groups were above 75 (1,028), between 70 and 74 (1,211), between 65 and 69 (1,709), between 60 and 64 (2,390), and between 55 and 59 (2,623) with total population of 8,961. The median age-group of total population falls between 35 and 39 and between 40 and 44 with average population of 4,569.

Gender wise, top 5 most age groups male population were between 5 and 9 (6,013), between 10 and 14 (5,936), below 4 (4,869), between 15 and 19 (3,977), and between 20 and 24 (2,612), with total population of 23,407. In contrast, bottom 5 least age group male population were above 75 (544), between 70 and 74 (615), between 65 and 69 (886),between 60 and 64 (1,211), and between 55 and 59 (1,383), with total population of 4,639. With regards to female population, top 5 age groups females were between 5 and 9 (5,735), between 10 and 14 (5,538), below 4 (4,512), between 25 and 29 (3,647), and between 20 and 24 (3,616), with total population of 23,048. In contrast, bottom 5 least age group male population were above 75 (484), between 70 and 74 (596), between 65 and 69 (823),between 60 and 64 (1,179), and between 55 and 59 (1,240), with total population of 4,322.

The population with age-group 55 to 59 had male to female ratio of 1.12, which states that this age group had maximum males as compared to females. Similarly, age-group 30 to 34 had most female population as compared to male population with male to female ratio of 0.62. The age-groups 55 to 59, above 75, 15 to 19, below 4, 65 to 69, 10 to 14, 5 to 9, 60 to 64, 70 to 74, 50 to 54 had majority of male population while age-groups 45 to 49, 40 to 44, 20 to 24, 35 to 39, 25 to 29, 30 to 34 had majority of female population as per male-female ratios. Moreover, age-groups had eqivalent or almost equal numbers of male and female population with male-female ratios of 1.

There were 55.71 % (45,980 ) of independent population, the working age people between ages of 15 and 64 years. The dependent children, ages below 15 years, were 39.50 % with total number of 32,603. The dependent elderly population, aged 65 and above were 4.78 % with total number of 3,948. As such, total dependent population including children and elderly people were 44.29 with total number of 36,551

There were 21,187 women of child-bearing age-group of 15 to 49 years. Same as, the todlers or children of 4 years or below were 9,381. The ratio of woman of child-bearing age and the number of todlers state that, approximately 443 children were born per 1,000 women. This number is also roughly used as fertility levels when direct measures of births are not available.

According to Nepal Government records as of 2017, there were total 25,696 in Siraha Municipality with 12,948 (50.39%) of males and 12,748 (49.61%) females. There were total 105 schools. In average, 245 students were studying in each school.

According to 2011 census conducted by Central Bureau of Statistics (CBS), Siraha Municipality was inhabitted by mostly the people of Yadav caste with total population of 27,015. There were as little as Dhandi caste with population of as little as 12 in total. Top five castes of people in Siraha Municipality are Yadav (27,015), Muslim (10,303), Mallaha (4,298), Dhanuk (4,196) and Chamar/Harijan/Ram (3,870) with total population of 49,682, which forms 60.20 percent out of total population of 82,531 in Siraha Municipality.

Out of total population of 82,531, there were total 1,218 (1.48%) disabled persons in Siraha Municipality with 676 (55.50%) males and 542 (44.50%) females. The physically disabled persons were 420, while mentally disabled people were 101 and intellectually disabled were 21.

Similarly, there were 287 people who were blind and 135 people were deaf, while 16 people were both blind and deaf. Moreover, 92 persons had reported of having speech problems. Total 146 people had multiple disabilities.

Out of total 15477 households in Siraha Municipality, there were 928 houses that were founded on mud bonded while 5,191 houses were cement bonded. Same as, 886 households were reported of being founded on RCC piller, 8,279houses were founded on wood.

With respect to wall of the houses, 651 houses were mud bonded, 5,734 houses were cement bonded, 353 houses were wood planks bonded, 8,532 houses were bamboo bonded and 19 houses had unbaked bricks on their outer walls.Rest of the houses were reported of having other types of outer wall, while some of them reported nothing of having the outer wall bonding.

There were several types of house roofs reported. Total 5,302 houses were reported of having thatch roofs while 1,814 houses had galvanized roofs. Similarly, 3,690 houses had roof of tile, 4,153 houses had RCC roofs, 242 houses had roof of woods while 0 houses were reported having roof of mud. As per 2011 CBS census, some of the houses had other types of roofs while some didn't report about the roof structure.

With respect to the toilets, 11,098 out of 15,477 houses didn't report of having a private toilet for their households. Nevertheless, 3,022 houses were reported of having flush toilet while 1,231 houses reported having ordinary toilets.

In Siraha Municipality, there were total 1,478 houses, which were equiped with piped tap water resources while 13,453 houses were reported of having tubewell water facilities. Same as, 22 houses had covered well while 29 houses didn't have any cover on their tubewell. Other resources of water facilities were spout water (5) and river stream (1), which were reported of the household's source of water.

With reference to source of fuel, 3,872 households reported their source of fuel as firewood while 156 households had kerosene as their fuel source. The LP gas was used by 882 households as a source of fuel. Moreover, other sources of fuel were cow dung (10,354), bio-gas (16), fuel electricity (2), etc.

Same as, total 12,533 households had reported of having electricity as the source of their household's lighting. The households still using kerosene as source of light were 2,728, while 47 households used solar energy as source of lights. Total 0 households also reported of using bio-gas as a source of light. The ratio of use of electricity as compared to other source of light was 0.81.

out of 15,477 households in Siraha Municipality, 2,792 houses reported of having no any facility in their household while 12,392 households reported of using at least one facility. Households using at least one facility, such as radio, television, internet, etc. have been illustrated in the table below.MobilePhone was used by the maximum households with total users of 9,763, while Bicycle was the next mostly used facilities with total household users of 8,453.

According to 2018 Economic Census, there are total 1,896 establishments in Siraha Municipality that are involved in various economic activities. In those establishments, total 5,023 persons are engaged for the economic activities, as a self-employed or an employee, with total male engagement of 3,821 and female engagement of 1,202 persons.In every business, there were an average of 2.65 people engaged with average males are 2.02 and females are 0.63. The ratio of male to female engagement in the establishments are 3.18, which means as many as 3.18 males are enagement in the economic activities per female.
