In 2017 election of Siddhicharan Municipality (Okhaldhunga district), candidate Mohan Kumar Shrestha of Nepal Communist Party (Unified Marxist-Leninist) (CPN (UML)) secured 4,739 (43.68%) votes out of total votes of 10,849 and was elected as a Mayor. The first runner-up candidate was Dilli Ram Khanal of Nepali Congress Party (NC) who secured 4,613 (29.59%) of votes. The rest of 5 candidates for the position of Mayor secured combined 1,497 (6.90) of votes.
Similarly, for the position of Deputy Mayor, candidate Ichcha Kumar Gurung of Nepal Communist Party (Unified Marxist-Leninist) (CPN (UML)) secured 4,826 (44.52%) and was elected as a Deputy Mayor, while Hema Laxi Rai of Nepali Congress Party (NC) secured 4,457 (28.45%) of votes and came in second position. Other 5 candidates who contested for Deputy Mayor secured combined 1,558 (7.19) of votes.

As illustrated in the pie chart, there were total 210 candidates contested in various positions with gender ratio of 121 (57.62%) males and 89 (42.38%) females. Moreover, there were total 47 candidates contested for ward chairman positions in 12 wards. Same as, total 74 candidates had contested for ward member positions while 39 females and 36 females from depressed group (dalit) had contested for female member position in each ward.
