In 2017 election of Shuddhodhan Rural Municipality (Rupandehi district), candidate Kishun Chandra Shrivastav of Nepal Communist Party (Unified Marxist-Leninist) (CPN (UML)) secured 5,371 (37.23%) votes out of total votes of 14,427 and was elected as a Chairman. The first runner-up candidate was Bhagwati Prasad Tharu of Nepali Congress Party (NC) who secured 5,016 (25.34%) of votes. The rest of 8 candidates for the position of Chairman secured combined 4,040 (14.00) of votes.
Similarly, for the position of Vice-Chairman, candidate Shanta Devi Gyawali of Nepal Communist Party (Unified Marxist-Leninist) (CPN (UML)) secured 5,390 (37.56%) and was elected as a Vice-Chairman, while Rameshwori Singh of Nepali Congress Party (NC) secured 4,950 (25.08%) of votes and came in second position. Other 7 candidates who contested for Vice-Chairman secured combined 4,009 (13.97) of votes.

As illustrated in the pie chart, there were total 213 candidates contested in various positions with gender ratio of 128 (60.09%) males and 85 (39.91%) females. Moreover, there were total 41 candidates contested for ward chairman positions in 7 wards. Same as, total 77 candidates had contested for ward member positions while 38 females and 38 females from depressed group (dalit) had contested for female member position in each ward.
