Shuddhodhan is a Rural Municipality, which is located in Kapilvastu district, Province No. 5 of Nepal. Shuddhodhan has total 6 wards, which are scattered across 92 square kilometers of geographical area. According to 2011 Census conducted by Central Bureau of Statistics (CBS), Shuddhodhan Rural Municipality had total population of 45,201.

Wardwise Population and Households

As per 2011 population census, Shuddhodhan Rural Municipality had total 45,201 population with 22,733 males and 22,468 females. Out of total wards, ward number 6 had the largest population 9,818, while ward number 4 had least number of population with 9,818.

With respect to number of households, Shuddhodhan Rural Municipality had total 6,346 households. In terms of age, the largest population in Shuddhodhan Rural Municipality were between 5 and 9 years of age with total 6,777. Gender wise, there were 3,438 males and 3,339 females of the same age group. The least populated age group was above 75 with total 437 population, which consistes of 250 males and 187 females. Gender wise, top 5 most age groups male population were between 5 and 9 (3,438), between 10 and 14 (3,332), below 4 (2,925), between 15 and 19 (2,349), and between 20 and 24 (1,722), with total population of 13,766. In contrast, bottom 5 least age group male population were above 75 (250), between 70 and 74 (369), between 65 and 69 (500),between 55 and 59 (647), and between 60 and 64 (666), with total population of 2,432. With regards to female population, top 5 age groups females were between 5 and 9 (3,339), between 10 and 14 (3,016), below 4 (2,739), between 15 and 19 (2,268), and between 20 and 24 (1,981), with total population of 13,343. In contrast, bottom 5 least age group male population were above 75 (187), between 70 and 74 (249), between 65 and 69 (404),between 60 and 64 (581), and between 55 and 59 (611), with total population of 2,032.

The population with age-group 70 to 74 had male to female ratio of 1.48, which states that this age group had maximum males as compared to females. Similarly, age-group 30 to 34 had most female population as compared to male population with male to female ratio of 0.81. The age-groups 70 to 74, above 75, 65 to 69, 45 to 49, 60 to 64, 10 to 14, below 4, 55 to 59, 15 to 19, 50 to 54, 5 to 9 had majority of male population while age-groups 35 to 39, 40 to 44, 20 to 24, 25 to 29, 30 to 34 had majority of female population as per male-female ratios. Moreover, age-groups had eqivalent or almost equal numbers of male and female population with male-female ratios of 1.

There were 54.10 % (24,453 ) of independent population, the working age people between ages of 15 and 64 years. The dependent children, ages below 15 years, were 41.57 % with total number of 18,789. The dependent elderly population, aged 65 and above were 4.33 % with total number of 1,959. As such, total dependent population including children and elderly people were 45.90 with total number of 20,748

There were 10,639 women of child-bearing age-group of 15 to 49 years. Same as, the todlers or children of 4 years or below were 5,664. The ratio of woman of child-bearing age and the number of todlers state that, approximately 532 children were born per 1,000 women. This number is also roughly used as fertility levels when direct measures of births are not available.

Grade 1-12 Students & Schools

According to Nepal Government records as of 2017, there were total 8,220 in Shuddhodhan Rural Municipality with 4,060 (49.39%) of males and 4,160 (50.61%) females. There were total 35 schools. In average, 235 students were studying in each school.

According to 2011 census conducted by Central Bureau of Statistics (CBS), Shuddhodhan Rural Municipality was inhabitted by mostly the people of Muslim caste with total population of 8,527. There were as little as Rajput caste with population of as little as 12 in total. People of several other castes who live in Shuddhodhan are Yadav, Dusadh/Pasawan/Pasi, Kurmi, Tharu, Chamar/Harijan/Ram, Dhobi, Kahar, Magar, Terai Others, Teli, Brahmin - Hill, Mallaha, Lodh, Baraee, Lohar, Gaderi/Bhedhar, Badhaee, Kori, Chhetri, Brahmin - Tarai, Kathbaniyan, Marwadi, Kalwar, Kewat, Hajam/Thakur, Dhunia, Bangali, Haluwai, Sanyasi/Dashnami, Mali, Kami, Sonar, Newar, Foreigner, Kayastha, Kumhar, Damai/Dholi, Natuwa, Koiri/Kushwaha, Gurung, Pattharkatta/Kushwadiya, Dhandi, Rai, Majhi, Thakali, Dhankar/Kharikar, Rajput, etc. Only the population of castes with above 1,000 population are illustrated in the table.

Top five castes of people in Shuddhodhan Rural Municipality are Muslim (8,527), Yadav (7,124), Dusadh/Pasawan/Pasi (3,135), Kurmi (2,783) and Tharu (2,659) with total population of 24,228, which forms 53.60 percent out of total population of 45,201 in Shuddhodhan Rural Municipality.

Population by Disability

Out of total population of 45,201, there were total 558 (1.23%) disabled persons in Shuddhodhan Rural Municipality with 303 (54.30%) males and 255 (45.70%) females. The physically disabled persons were 154, while mentally disabled people were 47 and intellectually disabled were 11.

Similarly, there were 153 people who were blind and 74 people were deaf, while 29 people were both blind and deaf. Moreover, 57 persons had reported of having speech problems. Total 33 people had multiple disabilities.

Household Foundation

Out of total 6346 households in Shuddhodhan Rural Municipality, there were 3,810 houses that were founded on mud bonded while 614 houses were cement bonded. Same as, 88 households were reported of being founded on RCC piller, 815houses were founded on wood.

There were several types of house roofs reported. Total 1,533 houses were reported of having thatch roofs while 144 houses had galvanized roofs. Similarly, 853 houses had roof of tile, 3,611 houses had RCC roofs, 30 houses had roof of woods while 0 houses were reported having roof of mud. As per 2011 CBS census, some of the houses had other types of roofs while some didn't report about the roof structure.

With respect to the toilets, 5,638 out of 6,346 houses didn't report of having a private toilet for their households. Nevertheless, 273 houses were reported of having flush toilet while 301 houses reported having ordinary toilets.

Utilities

In Shuddhodhan Rural Municipality, there were total 88 houses, which were equiped with piped tap water resources while 5,951 houses were reported of having tubewell water facilities. Same as, 15 houses had covered well while 21 houses didn't have any cover on their tubewell. With reference to source of fuel, 387 households reported their source of fuel as firewood while 106 households had kerosene as their fuel source. The LP gas was used by 85 households as a source of fuel. Moreover, other sources of fuel were cow dung (5,557), bio-gas (64), fuel electricity (1), etc.

Same as, total 2,748 households had reported of having electricity as the source of their household's lighting. The households still using kerosene as source of light were 3,250, while 26 households used solar energy as source of lights. Total 0 households also reported of using bio-gas as a source of light. The ratio of use of electricity as compared to other source of light was 0.43.

Facilities

out of 6,346 households in Shuddhodhan Rural Municipality, 459 houses reported of having no any facility in their household while 5,678 households reported of using at least one facility. According to 2018 Economic Census, there are total 662 establishments in Shuddhodhan Rural Municipality that are involved in various economic activities. In those establishments, total 1,350 persons are engaged for the economic activities, as a self-employed or an employee, with total male engagement of 1,140 and female engagement of 210 persons.In every business, there were an average of 2.04 people engaged with average males are 1.72 and females are 0.32.
