There were 52,707 votes casted during 1999 House of Representatives elections in Rautahat District, Constituency No. 2. The candidte of Nepali Congress Party - Mo. Aftab Aalam secured 29,758 (56.46%) votes and secured victory in the election. The runner-up candidate was Abul Kalam Aajad of Nepal Communist Party (Unified Marxist-Leninist) who secured 19,775 (37.52%) votes and came in second position. The difference in votes of Mo.
