There were 38,725 votes casted during 2008 Constituent Assembly elections in Pyuthan District, Constituency No. 1. The candidte of Nepal Communist Party (Maoist) - Narayan Prasad Adhikari secured 13,096 (33.82%) votes and secured victory in the election. The runner-up candidate was Hari Acharya of RJ who secured 11,345 (29.30%) votes and came in second position. The difference in votes of Narayan Prasad Adhikari and Hari Acharya was 1,751.
