In 2017 election of Patarasi Rural Municipality (Jumla district), candidate Laximan Bohora of Nepali Congress Party (NC) secured 2,311 (46.73%) votes out of total votes of 4,945 and was elected as a Chairman. The first runner-up candidate was Gauri Budha of Nepal Communist Party (Maoist) (CPN (M)) who secured 1,922 (26.49%) of votes. The rest of 2 candidates for the position of Chairman secured combined 712 (7.20) of votes.
Similarly, for the position of Vice-Chairman, candidate Punna Kali Mahatara of Nepali Congress Party (NC) secured 2,007 (41.58%) and was elected as a Vice-Chairman, while Janmaya Rokaya of Nepal Communist Party (Maoist) (CPN (M)) secured 1,855 (27.14%) of votes and came in second position. Other 3 candidates who contested for Vice-Chairman secured combined 965 (10.00) of votes.

As illustrated in the pie chart, there were total 116 candidates contested in various positions with gender ratio of 78 (67.24%) males and 38 (32.76%) females. Moreover, there were total 26 candidates contested for ward chairman positions in 7 wards. Same as, total 52 candidates had contested for ward member positions while 22 females and 7 females from depressed group (dalit) had contested for female member position in each ward.
