In 2017 election of Paroha Municipality (Rautahat district), candidate Shekh Wakil of Nepali Congress Party (NC) secured 6,330 (52.22%) votes out of total votes of 12,121 and was elected as a Mayor. The first runner-up candidate was Arun Parasd Jayaswal of Nepal Communist Party (Maoist) (CPN (M)) who secured 4,077 (22.10%) of votes. The rest of 12 candidates for the position of Mayor secured combined 1,714 (7.07) of votes.
Similarly, for the position of Deputy Mayor, candidate Sugandhi Giri of Nepali Congress Party (NC) secured 6,098 (50.32%) and was elected as a Deputy Mayor, while Punam Devi of Nepal Communist Party (Maoist) (CPN (M)) secured 3,957 (21.72%) of votes and came in second position. Other 5 candidates who contested for Deputy Mayor secured combined 2,064 (8.52) of votes.

As illustrated in the pie chart, there were total 209 candidates contested in various positions with gender ratio of 132 (63.16%) males and 77 (36.84%) females. Moreover, there were total 48 candidates contested for ward chairman positions in 9 wards. Same as, total 74 candidates had contested for ward member positions while 33 females and 33 females from depressed group (dalit) had contested for female member position in each ward.
