Omsatiya is a Rural Municipality, which is located in Rupandehi district, Province No. 5 of Nepal. Omsatiya has total 6 wards, which are scattered across 49 square kilometers of geographical area. According to 2011 Census conducted by Central Bureau of Statistics (CBS), Omsatiya Rural Municipality had total population of 34,191.

Wardwise Population and Households

As per 2011 population census, Omsatiya Rural Municipality had total 34,191 population with 16,849 males and 17,342 females. Out of total wards, ward number 4 had the largest population 8,163, while ward number 1 had least number of population with 8,163.

In terms of age, the largest population in Omsatiya Rural Municipality were between 10 and 14 years of age with total 4,482. Gender wise, there were 2,286 males and 2,196 females of the same age group. The least populated age group was above 75 with total 453 population, which consistes of 229 males and 224 females. Top 5 most populated age groups were between 10 and 14 (4,482), between 15 and 19 (4,123), between 5 and 9 (4,045), between 20 and 24 (3,221), below 4 (3,138) with total population of 19,009. In contrast, bottom 5 least age group male population were above 75 (229), between 70 and 74 (266), between 65 and 69 (347),between 60 and 64 (446), and between 55 and 59 (528), with total population of 1,816. With regards to female population, top 5 age groups females were between 10 and 14 (2,196), between 5 and 9 (2,004), between 15 and 19 (1,970), between 20 and 24 (1,796), and between 25 and 29 (1,542), with total population of 9,508. In contrast, bottom 5 least age group male population were between 70 and 74 (190), above 75 (224), between 65 and 69 (292),between 60 and 64 (452), and between 55 and 59 (486), with total population of 1,644.

The population with age-group 70 to 74 had male to female ratio of 1.40, which states that this age group had maximum males as compared to females. Similarly, age-group 20 to 24 had most female population as compared to male population with male to female ratio of 0.79. The age-groups 70 to 74, 65 to 69, 15 to 19, 55 to 59, 50 to 54, below 4, 10 to 14, 5 to 9, 45 to 49, above 75 had majority of male population while age-groups 60 to 64, 40 to 44, 35 to 39, 25 to 29, 30 to 34, 20 to 24 had majority of female population as per male-female ratios. Moreover, age-groups had eqivalent or almost equal numbers of male and female population with male-female ratios of 1.

There were 61.36 % (20,978 ) of independent population, the working age people between ages of 15 and 64 years. The dependent children, ages below 15 years, were 34.12 % with total number of 11,665. The dependent elderly population, aged 65 and above were 4.53 % with total number of 1,548. As such, total dependent population including children and elderly people were 38.64 with total number of 13,213

There were 9,353 women of child-bearing age-group of 15 to 49 years. Same as, the todlers or children of 4 years or below were 3,138. The ratio of woman of child-bearing age and the number of todlers state that, approximately 336 children were born per 1,000 women. This number is also roughly used as fertility levels when direct measures of births are not available.

Grade 1-12 Students & Schools

According to Nepal Government records as of 2017, there were total 49,765 in Omsatiya Rural Municipality with 26,831 (53.92%) of males and 22,934 (46.08%) females. There were total 31 schools. In average, 1605 students were studying in each school.

According to 2011 census conducted by Central Bureau of Statistics (CBS), Omsatiya Rural Municipality was inhabitted by mostly the people of Tharu caste with total population of 5,674. People of several other castes who live in Omsatiya are Yadav, Magar, Kewat, Chamar/Harijan/Ram, Muslim, Brahmin - Hill, Kahar, Teli, Kurmi, Chhetri, Dusadh/Pasawan/Pasi, Gurung, Mallaha, Dhobi, Kathbaniyan, Hajam/Thakur, Lodh, Kami, Kalwar, Bangali, Thakuri, Lohar, Newar, Brahmin - Tarai, Koiri/Kushwaha, Gaderi/Bhedhar, Haluwai, Mali, Dhunia, Dhankar/Kharikar, Gharti/Bhujel, Baraee, Kayastha, Terai Others, Pattharkatta/Kushwadiya, Dhandi, Marwadi, Sarki, Badi, Sanyasi/Dashnami, Sudhi, Sonar, Tamang, Musahar, Gaine, Satar/Santhal, Rajbhar, Sunuwar, Khawas, Rajput, Kanu, Rai, Foreigner, etc. Only the population of castes with above 1,000 population are illustrated in the table.

Top five castes of people in Omsatiya Rural Municipality are Tharu (5,674), Yadav (3,752), Magar (2,701), Kewat (2,631) and Chamar/Harijan/Ram (2,628) with total population of 17,386, which forms 50.85 percent out of total population of 34,191 in Omsatiya Rural Municipality.

Population by Disability

Out of total population of 34,191, there were total 468 (1.37%) disabled persons in Omsatiya Rural Municipality with 249 (53.21%) males and 219 (46.79%) females. The physically disabled persons were 146, while mentally disabled people were 45 and intellectually disabled were 20.

Similarly, there were 113 people who were blind and 50 people were deaf, while 13 people were both blind and deaf. Moreover, 51 persons had reported of having speech problems. Total 30 people had multiple disabilities.

Household Foundation

Out of total 5787 households in Omsatiya Rural Municipality, there were 1,045 houses that were founded on mud bonded while 3,290 houses were cement bonded. Same as, 505 households were reported of being founded on RCC piller, 416houses were founded on wood.

There were several types of house roofs reported. Total 554 houses were reported of having thatch roofs while 309 houses had galvanized roofs. Similarly, 749 houses had roof of tile, 4,086 houses had RCC roofs, 23 houses had roof of woods while 0 houses were reported having roof of mud. As per 2011 CBS census, some of the houses had other types of roofs while some didn't report about the roof structure.

With respect to the toilets, 3,567 out of 5,787 houses didn't report of having a private toilet for their households. Nevertheless, 1,783 houses were reported of having flush toilet while 413 houses reported having ordinary toilets.

Utilities

In Omsatiya Rural Municipality, there were total 1,010 houses, which were equiped with piped tap water resources while 4,667 houses were reported of having tubewell water facilities. Same as, 19 houses had covered well while 12 houses didn't have any cover on their tubewell. With reference to source of fuel, 1,489 households reported their source of fuel as firewood while 76 households had kerosene as their fuel source. The LP gas was used by 1,505 households as a source of fuel. Moreover, other sources of fuel were cow dung (2,584), bio-gas (78), fuel electricity (0), etc.

Same as, total 4,559 households had reported of having electricity as the source of their household's lighting. The households still using kerosene as source of light were 1,157, while 37 households used solar energy as source of lights. Total 0 households also reported of using bio-gas as a source of light. The ratio of use of electricity as compared to other source of light was 0.79.

Facilities

out of 5,787 households in Omsatiya Rural Municipality, 271 houses reported of having no any facility in their household while 5,466 households reported of using at least one facility. According to 2018 Economic Census, there are total 1,415 establishments in Omsatiya Rural Municipality that are involved in various economic activities. In those establishments, total 5,131 persons are engaged for the economic activities, as a self-employed or an employee, with total male engagement of 3,765 and female engagement of 1,366 persons.In every business, there were an average of 3.63 people engaged with average males are 2.66 and females are 0.97.
