Nijgadh Municipality (Bara) Election Results 2017
In 2017 election of Nijgadh Municipality (Bara district), candidate Suresh Kumar Khanal of Nepali Congress Party (NC) secured 7,648 (51.49%) votes out of total votes of 14,854 and was elected as a Mayor. The first runner-up candidate was Yam Bahadur Khadka of Nepal Communist Party (Unified Marxist-Leninist) (CPN (UML)) who secured 6,818 (30.30%) of votes. The rest of 6 candidates for the position of Mayor secured combined 388 (1.31) of votes.
Similarly, for the position of Deputy Mayor, candidate Lila Devi Lamichhane of Nepal Communist Party (Unified Marxist-Leninist) (CPN (UML)) secured 6,773 (49.36%) and was elected as a Deputy Mayor, while Beni Bahadur Muktan of Nepal Communist Party (Maoist) (CPN (M)) secured 6,376 (31.11%) of votes and came in second position. Other 5 candidates who contested for Deputy Mayor secured combined 574 (2.09) of votes.
As illustrated in the pie chart, there were total 258 candidates contested in various positions with gender ratio of 149 (57.75%) males and 109 (42.25%) females. Moreover, there were total 57 candidates contested for ward chairman positions in 13 wards. Same as, total 94 candidates had contested for ward member positions while 48 females and 44 females from depressed group (dalit) had contested for female member position in each ward.
