Naugad is a Rural Municipality, which is located in Darchula district, Sudurpashchim Province of Nepal. Naugad has total 6 wards, which are scattered across 180 square kilometers of geographical area. According to 2011 Census conducted by Central Bureau of Statistics (CBS), Naugad Rural Municipality had total population of 15,874.

As of 2011, 572 population in Naugad Rural Municipality were absent from their households, which equals to 3.60 percent of the total population. Absence of males was 519, which equals to 6.81 percent of total 7,624 males. Same as, 53 females were absent, which equals to 0.64 percent of 8,250 females. At least one member of 434 (16.59 percent) households were absent.

In terms of age, the largest population in Naugad Rural Municipality were between 5 and 9 years of age with total 2,634. Gender wise, there were 1,236 males and 1,398 females of the same age group. The least populated age group was between 70 and 74 with total 150 population, which consistes of 70 males and 80 females. Top 5 most populated age groups were between 5 and 9 (2,634), below 4 (2,467), between 10 and 14 (2,332), between 15 and 19 (1,513), between 20 and 24 (1,216) with total population of 10,162. In contrast, bottom 5 least populated age groups were between 70 and 74 (150), above 75 (165), between 65 and 69 (228), between 60 and 64 (298), and between 55 and 59 (446) with total population of 1,287. The median age-group of total population falls between 35 and 39 and between 40 and 44 with average population of 730.

Gender wise, top 5 most age groups male population were between 5 and 9 (1,236), below 4 (1,220), between 10 and 14 (1,193), between 15 and 19 (704), and between 20 and 24 (473), with total population of 4,826. In contrast, bottom 5 least age group male population were between 70 and 74 (70), above 75 (95), between 65 and 69 (118),between 60 and 64 (164), and between 55 and 59 (244), with total population of 691. With regards to female population, top 5 age groups females were between 5 and 9 (1,398), below 4 (1,247), between 10 and 14 (1,139), between 15 and 19 (809), and between 20 and 24 (743), with total population of 5,336. In contrast, bottom 5 least age group male population were above 75 (70), between 70 and 74 (80), between 65 and 69 (110),between 60 and 64 (134), and between 55 and 59 (202), with total population of 596.

The population with age-group above 75 had male to female ratio of 1.36, which states that this age group had maximum males as compared to females. Similarly, age-group 20 to 24 had most female population as compared to male population with male to female ratio of 0.64. The age-groups above 75, 60 to 64, 55 to 59, 50 to 54, 45 to 49, 65 to 69, 10 to 14, 35 to 39 had majority of male population while age-groups below 4, 40 to 44, 5 to 9, 70 to 74, 15 to 19, 30 to 34, 25 to 29, 20 to 24 had majority of female population as per male-female ratios. Moreover, age-groups had eqivalent or almost equal numbers of male and female population with male-female ratios of 1.

There were 49.75 % (7,898 ) of independent population, the working age people between ages of 15 and 64 years. The dependent children, ages below 15 years, were 46.82 % with total number of 7,433. The dependent elderly population, aged 65 and above were 3.42 % with total number of 543. As such, total dependent population including children and elderly people were 50.25 with total number of 7,976

There were 3,647 women of child-bearing age-group of 15 to 49 years. Same as, the todlers or children of 4 years or below were 2,467. The ratio of woman of child-bearing age and the number of todlers state that, approximately 676 children were born per 1,000 women. This number is also roughly used as fertility levels when direct measures of births are not available.

According to Nepal Government records as of 2017, there were total 2,838 in Naugad Rural Municipality with 1,349 (47.53%) of males and 1,489 (52.47%) females. There were total 43 schools. In average, 66 students were studying in each school.

According to 2011 census conducted by Central Bureau of Statistics (CBS), Naugad Rural Municipality was inhabitted by mostly the people of Chhetri caste with total population of 14,041. There were as little as Others caste with population of as little as 14 in total. People of several other castes who live in Naugad are Kami, Dalit Others, Brahmin - Hill, etc. Only the population of castes with above 1,000 population are illustrated in the table.

Top five castes of people in Naugad Rural Municipality are Chhetri (14,041), Kami (1,587), Dalit Others (159), Brahmin - Hill (73) with total population of 15,860, which forms 99.91 percent out of total population of 15,874 in Naugad Rural Municipality.

Out of total population of 15,874, there were total 330 (2.08%) disabled persons in Naugad Rural Municipality with 192 (58.18%) males and 138 (41.82%) females. The physically disabled persons were 148, while mentally disabled people were 10 and intellectually disabled were 7.

Similarly, there were 64 people who were blind and 48 people were deaf, while 5 people were both blind and deaf. Moreover, 25 persons had reported of having speech problems. Total 23 people had multiple disabilities.

Out of total 2616 households in Naugad Rural Municipality, there were 2,538 houses that were founded on mud bonded while 59 houses were cement bonded. Same as, 0 households were reported of being founded on RCC piller, 3houses were founded on wood.

With respect to wall of the houses, 2,287 houses were mud bonded, 271 houses were cement bonded, 35 houses were wood planks bonded, 1 houses were bamboo bonded and 0 houses had unbaked bricks on their outer walls.Rest of the houses were reported of having other types of outer wall, while some of them reported nothing of having the outer wall bonding.

There were several types of house roofs reported. Total 168 houses were reported of having thatch roofs while 68 houses had galvanized roofs. Similarly, 2,334 houses had roof of tile, 21 houses had RCC roofs, 1 houses had roof of woods while 8 houses were reported having roof of mud. As per 2011 CBS census, some of the houses had other types of roofs while some didn't report about the roof structure.

With respect to the toilets, 1,037 out of 2,616 houses didn't report of having a private toilet for their households. Nevertheless, 1,272 houses were reported of having flush toilet while 294 houses reported having ordinary toilets.

In Naugad Rural Municipality, there were total 2,389 houses, which were equiped with piped tap water resources while 0 houses were reported of having tubewell water facilities. Same as, 1 houses had covered well while 1 houses didn't have any cover on their tubewell. Other resources of water facilities were spout water (92) and river stream (103), which were reported of the household's source of water.

With reference to source of fuel, 2,580 households reported their source of fuel as firewood while 18 households had kerosene as their fuel source. The LP gas was used by 1 households as a source of fuel. Moreover, other sources of fuel were cow dung (0), bio-gas (4), fuel electricity (0), etc.

Same as, total 1,165 households had reported of having electricity as the source of their household's lighting. The households still using kerosene as source of light were 688, while 440 households used solar energy as source of lights. Total 0 households also reported of using bio-gas as a source of light. The ratio of use of electricity as compared to other source of light was 0.45.

out of 2,616 households in Naugad Rural Municipality, 892 houses reported of having no any facility in their household while 1,674 households reported of using at least one facility. Households using at least one facility, such as radio, television, internet, etc. have been illustrated in the table below.Radio was used by the maximum households with total users of 1,437, while MobilePhone was the next mostly used facilities with total household users of 767.

According to 2018 Economic Census, there are total 230 establishments in Naugad Rural Municipality that are involved in various economic activities. In those establishments, total 973 persons are engaged for the economic activities, as a self-employed or an employee, with total male engagement of 702 and female engagement of 271 persons.In every business, there were an average of 4.23 people engaged with average males are 3.05 and females are 1.18. The ratio of male to female engagement in the establishments are 2.59, which means as many as 2.59 males are enagement in the economic activities per female.
