Mirchaiya is a Municipality, which is located in Siraha district, Province No. 2 of Nepal. Mirchaiya has total 12 wards, which are scattered across 92 square kilometers of geographical area. According to 2011 Census conducted by Central Bureau of Statistics (CBS), Mirchaiya Municipality had total population of 50,079.

As of 2011, 3,636 population in Mirchaiya Municipality were absent from their households, which equals to 7.26 percent of the total population. Absence of males was 3,606, which equals to 15.00 percent of total 24,047 males. Same as, 30 females were absent, which equals to 0.12 percent of 24,864 females. At least one member of 3,003 (32.18 percent) households were absent.

As illustrated in the charts, the ratio of absentee population was 12.77, while male to female absentee population ratio was 120.20. Same as, the household ratio of present vs. absent population was 2.11.

In terms of age, the largest population in Mirchaiya Municipality were between 10 and 14 years of age with total 6,840. Gender wise, there were 3,540 males and 3,300 females of the same age group. The least populated age group was above 75 with total 578 population, which consistes of 313 males and 265 females. Top 5 most populated age groups were between 10 and 14 (6,840), between 5 and 9 (6,538), below 4 (5,031), between 15 and 19 (4,543), between 20 and 24 (3,620) with total population of 26,572. In contrast, bottom 5 least populated age groups were above 75 (578), between 70 and 74 (738), between 65 and 69 (1,062), between 60 and 64 (1,478), and between 55 and 59 (1,649) with total population of 5,505. The median age-group of total population falls between 30 and 34 and between 40 and 44 with average population of 2,939.

Gender wise, top 5 most age groups male population were between 10 and 14 (3,540), between 5 and 9 (3,306), below 4 (2,576), between 15 and 19 (2,436), and between 20 and 24 (1,634), with total population of 13,492. In contrast, bottom 5 least age group male population were above 75 (313), between 70 and 74 (374), between 65 and 69 (565),between 60 and 64 (753), and between 55 and 59 (869), with total population of 2,874. With regards to female population, top 5 age groups females were between 10 and 14 (3,300), between 5 and 9 (3,232), below 4 (2,455), between 15 and 19 (2,107), and between 25 and 29 (2,069), with total population of 13,163. In contrast, bottom 5 least age group male population were above 75 (265), between 70 and 74 (364), between 65 and 69 (497),between 60 and 64 (725), and between 55 and 59 (780), with total population of 2,631.

The population with age-group above 75 had male to female ratio of 1.18, which states that this age group had maximum males as compared to females. Similarly, age-group 30 to 34 had most female population as compared to male population with male to female ratio of 0.65. The age-groups above 75, 15 to 19, 65 to 69, 55 to 59, 10 to 14, below 4, 45 to 49, 60 to 64, 70 to 74, 5 to 9 had majority of male population while age-groups 40 to 44, 35 to 39, 20 to 24, 25 to 29, 30 to 34 had majority of female population as per male-female ratios. Moreover, age-groups 50 to 54 had eqivalent or almost equal numbers of male and female population with male-female ratios of 1.

There were 56.16 % (28,124 ) of independent population, the working age people between ages of 15 and 64 years. The dependent children, ages below 15 years, were 36.76 % with total number of 18,409. The dependent elderly population, aged 65 and above were 4.75 % with total number of 2,378. As such, total dependent population including children and elderly people were 41.51 with total number of 20,787

There were 12,348 women of child-bearing age-group of 15 to 49 years. Same as, the todlers or children of 4 years or below were 5,031. The ratio of woman of child-bearing age and the number of todlers state that, approximately 407 children were born per 1,000 women. This number is also roughly used as fertility levels when direct measures of births are not available.

According to Nepal Government records as of 2017, there were total 6,828 in Mirchaiya Municipality with 3,319 (48.61%) of males and 3,509 (51.39%) females. There were total 55 schools. In average, 124 students were studying in each school.

According to 2011 census conducted by Central Bureau of Statistics (CBS), Mirchaiya Municipality was inhabitted by mostly the people of Yadav caste with total population of 7,913. There were as little as Gharti/Bhujel caste with population of as little as 12 in total. People of several other castes who live in Mirchaiya are Chamar/Harijan/Ram, Teli, Musahar, Sudhi, Kewat, Muslim, Dhanuk, Koiri/Kushwaha, Haluwai, Dusadh/Pasawan/Pasi, Baraee, Magar, Kurmi, Hajam/Thakur, Newar, Mallaha, Dhobi, Bantar/Sardar, Brahmin - Hill, Tharu, Danuwar, Chhetri, Kalwar, Jhangad/Dhagar, Kumhar, Bin, Tatma/Tatwa, Rajput, Khatwe, Tamang, Brahmin - Tarai, Rai, Kumal, Kami, Sarki, Kayastha, Kathbaniyan, Sonar, Dom, Undefined Others, Badhaee, Lohar, Damai/Dholi, Sanyasi/Dashnami, Sunuwar, Terai Others, Majhi, Marwadi, Dhankar/Kharikar, Punjabi/Shikh, Bangali, Thami, Gharti/Bhujel, etc. Only the population of castes with above 1,000 population are illustrated in the table.

Top five castes of people in Mirchaiya Municipality are Yadav (7,913), Chamar/Harijan/Ram (4,684), Teli (4,613), Musahar (3,497) and Sudhi (3,402) with total population of 24,109, which forms 48.14 percent out of total population of 50,079 in Mirchaiya Municipality.

Out of total population of 48,911, there were total 419 (0.86%) disabled persons in Mirchaiya Municipality with 256 (61.10%) males and 163 (38.90%) females. The physically disabled persons were 161, while mentally disabled people were 34 and intellectually disabled were 14.

Similarly, there were 69 people who were blind and 49 people were deaf, while 15 people were both blind and deaf. Moreover, 49 persons had reported of having speech problems. Total 28 people had multiple disabilities.

Out of total 9333 households in Mirchaiya Municipality, there were 487 houses that were founded on mud bonded while 2,285 houses were cement bonded. Same as, 737 households were reported of being founded on RCC piller, 5,720houses were founded on wood.

With respect to wall of the houses, 418 houses were mud bonded, 3,036 houses were cement bonded, 610 houses were wood planks bonded, 5,108 houses were bamboo bonded and 19 houses had unbaked bricks on their outer walls.Rest of the houses were reported of having other types of outer wall, while some of them reported nothing of having the outer wall bonding.

There were several types of house roofs reported. Total 1,569 houses were reported of having thatch roofs while 290 houses had galvanized roofs. Similarly, 5,414 houses had roof of tile, 1,782 houses had RCC roofs, 146 houses had roof of woods while 0 houses were reported having roof of mud. As per 2011 CBS census, some of the houses had other types of roofs while some didn't report about the roof structure.

With respect to the toilets, 6,703 out of 9,333 houses didn't report of having a private toilet for their households. Nevertheless, 1,726 houses were reported of having flush toilet while 834 houses reported having ordinary toilets.

In Mirchaiya Municipality, there were total 349 houses, which were equiped with piped tap water resources while 8,484 houses were reported of having tubewell water facilities. Same as, 22 houses had covered well while 233 houses didn't have any cover on their tubewell. Other resources of water facilities were spout water (7) and river stream (86), which were reported of the household's source of water.

With reference to source of fuel, 6,602 households reported their source of fuel as firewood while 143 households had kerosene as their fuel source. The LP gas was used by 366 households as a source of fuel. Moreover, other sources of fuel were cow dung (2,134), bio-gas (6), fuel electricity (1), etc.

Same as, total 6,741 households had reported of having electricity as the source of their household's lighting. The households still using kerosene as source of light were 2,437, while 62 households used solar energy as source of lights. Total 0 households also reported of using bio-gas as a source of light. The ratio of use of electricity as compared to other source of light was 0.72.

out of 9,333 households in Mirchaiya Municipality, 1,400 houses reported of having no any facility in their household while 7,789 households reported of using at least one facility. Households using at least one facility, such as radio, television, internet, etc. have been illustrated in the table below.MobilePhone was used by the maximum households with total users of 6,022, while Bicycle was the next mostly used facilities with total household users of 5,208.

According to 2018 Economic Census, there are total 1,567 establishments in Mirchaiya Municipality that are involved in various economic activities. In those establishments, total 4,972 persons are engaged for the economic activities, as a self-employed or an employee, with total male engagement of 3,580 and female engagement of 1,392 persons.In every business, there were an average of 3.17 people engaged with average males are 2.28 and females are 0.89. The ratio of male to female engagement in the establishments are 2.57, which means as many as 2.57 males are enagement in the economic activities per female.
