Manra Shiswa is a Municipality located in Mahottari District of Nepal. It has total 10 wards and 50 square kilometers of geographical area. According to 2011 census, it had total population of 49,692.
Wardwise Population and Households
As per 2011 population census, Manra Shiswa Municipality had total 49,692 population with 24,856 males and 24,836 females. Out of total wards, ward number 1 had the largest population 6,925, while ward number 8 had least number of population with 6,925.
With respect to number of households, Manra Shiswa Municipality had total 8,532 households. The ward number 2 had most households with total 1,156, while ward number 8 had least number of households with total 589 number of households.
As illustrated in the chart, the ratio of male to female population was 1.00, which indicates that Manra Shiswa Municipality had 0 percent lower males as compared to the females. Gender wise, top 5 most age groups male population were between 5 and 9 (3,589), between 10 and 14 (3,476), below 4 (2,750), between 15 and 19 (2,520), and between 20 and 24 (1,721), with total population of 14,056. In contrast, bottom 5 least age group male population were above 75 (299), between 70 and 74 (411), between 65 and 69 (635),between 60 and 64 (852), and between 55 and 59 (917), with total population of 3,114. With regards to female population, top 5 age groups females were between 5 and 9 (3,489), between 10 and 14 (3,255), below 4 (2,645), between 15 and 19 (1,954), and between 25 and 29 (1,892), with total population of 13,235. In contrast, bottom 5 least age group male population were above 75 (270), between 70 and 74 (337), between 65 and 69 (569),between 60 and 64 (807), and between 55 and 59 (859), with total population of 2,842.
The population with age-group 15 to 19 had male to female ratio of 1.29, which states that this age group had maximum males as compared to females. Similarly, age-group 30 to 34 had most female population as compared to male population with male to female ratio of 0.74. The age-groups 15 to 19, 70 to 74, 65 to 69, above 75, 10 to 14, 55 to 59, 50 to 54, 60 to 64, below 4, 5 to 9 had majority of male population while age-groups 20 to 24, 40 to 44, 45 to 49, 25 to 29, 35 to 39, 30 to 34 had majority of female population as per male-female ratios. Moreover, age-groups had eqivalent or almost equal numbers of male and female population with male-female ratios of 1.

Population Ratios
There were 56.28 % (27,967 ) of independent population, the working age people between ages of 15 and 64 years. The dependent children, ages below 15 years, were 38.65 % with total number of 19,204. The dependent elderly population, aged 65 and above were 5.07 % with total number of 2,521. As such, total dependent population including children and elderly people were 43.72 with total number of 21,725

Population by Language Spoken
Mostly spoken language in Manra Shiswa is Maithili, which is spoken by 45,713 people. The Manra Shiswa has people who speak other languages, such as Urdu, Nepali, Hindi, Bajjika, Bhojpuri, Magahi, etc.

According to 2011 census conducted by Central Bureau of Statistics (CBS), Manra Shiswa Municipality was inhabitted by mostly the people of Muslim caste with total population of 5,992. There were as little as Chepang/Praja caste with population of as little as 13 in total. People of several other castes who live in Manra Shiswa are Brahmin - Tarai, Dhanuk, Yadav, Teli, Rajput, Mallaha, Koiri/Kushwaha, Baraee, Khatwe, Chamar/Harijan/Ram, Brahmin - Hill, Musahar, Nuniya, Kumhar, Dusadh/Pasawan/Pasi, Hajam/Thakur, Kewat, Bin, Sonar, Kalwar, Kanu, Dhobi, Lohar, Haluwai, Sudhi, Kurmi, Kayastha, Terai Others, Badhaee, Gaderi/Bhedhar, Mali, Kathbaniyan, Dhunia, Dom, Chhetri, Sanyasi/Dashnami, Gharti/Bhujel, Kami, Tharu, Chepang/Praja, etc. Only the population of castes with above 1,000 population are illustrated in the table.
Top five castes of people in Manra Shiswa Municipality are Muslim (5,992), Brahmin - Tarai (4,995), Dhanuk (4,578), Yadav (3,796) and Teli (2,933) with total population of 22,294, which forms 44.86 percent out of total population of 49,692 in Manra Shiswa Municipality.Population by Disability
Similarly, there were 275 people who were blind and 64 people were deaf, while 6 people were both blind and deaf. Moreover, 57 persons had reported of having speech problems. Total 108 people had multiple disabilities.

Household Foundation
With respect to wall of the houses, 136 houses were mud bonded, 2,425 houses were cement bonded, 164 houses were wood planks bonded, 5,690 houses were bamboo bonded and 10 houses had unbaked bricks on their outer walls.Rest of the houses were reported of having other types of outer wall, while some of them reported nothing of having the outer wall bonding.
There were several types of house roofs reported. Total 1,950 houses were reported of having thatch roofs while 95 houses had galvanized roofs. Similarly, 4,825 houses had roof of tile, 1,371 houses had RCC roofs, 169 houses had roof of woods while 0 houses were reported having roof of mud. As per 2011 CBS census, some of the houses had other types of roofs while some didn't report about the roof structure.
With respect to the toilets, 6,017 out of 8,532 houses didn't report of having a private toilet for their households. Nevertheless, 1,603 houses were reported of having flush toilet while 835 houses reported having ordinary toilets.
Utilities
With reference to source of fuel, 4,648 households reported their source of fuel as firewood while 131 households had kerosene as their fuel source. The LP gas was used by 147 households as a source of fuel. Moreover, other sources of fuel were cow dung (3,242), bio-gas (19), fuel electricity (0), etc.
Same as, total 5,142 households had reported of having electricity as the source of their household's lighting. The households still using kerosene as source of light were 3,157, while 52 households used solar energy as source of lights. Total 0 households also reported of using bio-gas as a source of light. The ratio of use of electricity as compared to other source of light was 0.60.
Facilities
Economic Census
According to 2018 Economic Census, there are total 844 establishments in Manra Shiswa Municipality that are involved in various economic activities. In those establishments, total 2,267 persons are engaged for the economic activities, as a self-employed or an employee, with total male engagement of 1,926 and female engagement of 341 persons.In every business, there were an average of 2.69 people engaged with average males are 2.28 and females are 0.40. The ratio of male to female engagement in the establishments are 5.65, which means as many as 5.65 males are enagement in the economic activities per female.
Similarly, the engagement of males were 84.96 percent while the females are 15.04 percent.
