There were 41,766 votes casted during 2008 Constituent Assembly elections in Makwanpur District, Constituency No. 1. The candidte of Nepal Communist Party (Maoist) - Bahadur Ghising secured 21,027 (50.34%) votes and secured victory in the election. The runner-up candidate was Badri Prasad Lamsal of Nepal Communist Party (Unified Marxist-Leninist) who secured 9,561 (22.89%) votes and came in second position.
