In 2017 election of Makawanpurgadhi Rural Municipality (Makwanpur district), candidate Bidur Humagain of Nepal Communist Party (Unified Marxist-Leninist) (CPN (UML)) secured 3,814 (37.90%) votes out of total votes of 10,064 and was elected as a Chairman. The first runner-up candidate was Dorje Lama Syangtan of Nepali Congress Party (NC) who secured 3,653 (26.32%) of votes. The rest of 3 candidates for the position of Chairman secured combined 2,597 (12.90) of votes.
Similarly, for the position of Vice-Chairman, candidate Harka Maya Rumba of Nepal Communist Party (Unified Marxist-Leninist) (CPN (UML)) secured 3,717 (37.47%) and was elected as a Vice-Chairman, while Mandira K.c of Nepali Congress Party (NC) secured 3,707 (27.18%) of votes and came in second position. Other 2 candidates who contested for Vice-Chairman secured combined 2,497 (12.58) of votes.

As illustrated in the pie chart, there were total 164 candidates contested in various positions with gender ratio of 97 (59.15%) males and 67 (40.85%) females. Moreover, there were total 34 candidates contested for ward chairman positions in 8 wards. Same as, total 64 candidates had contested for ward member positions while 31 females and 26 females from depressed group (dalit) had contested for female member position in each ward.
