Mahankal Rural Municipality (Lalitpur) Election Results 2017
In 2017 election of Mahankal Rural Municipality (Lalitpur district), candidate Ram Chandra Dahal of Nepal Communist Party (Unified Marxist-Leninist) (CPN (UML)) secured 2,080 (38.79%) votes out of total votes of 5,362 and was elected as a Chairman. The first runner-up candidate was Bhimsen Ghimire of Nepali Congress Party (NC) who secured 1,722 (23.14%) of votes. The rest of 7 candidates for the position of Chairman secured combined 1,560 (14.55) of votes.
Similarly, for the position of Vice-Chairman, candidate Kamala Lama Tamang of Nepal Communist Party (Unified Marxist-Leninist) (CPN (UML)) secured 2,293 (44.56%) and was elected as a Vice-Chairman, while Sushila Adhikari of Nepali Congress Party (NC) secured 1,399 (18.81%) of votes and came in second position. Other 2 candidates who contested for Vice-Chairman secured combined 1,454 (14.13) of votes.

As illustrated in the pie chart, there were total 124 candidates contested in various positions with gender ratio of 82 (66.13%) males and 42 (33.87%) females. Moreover, there were total 27 candidates contested for ward chairman positions in 6 wards. Same as, total 46 candidates had contested for ward member positions while 23 females and 15 females from depressed group (dalit) had contested for female member position in each ward.
