Madi Municipality (Chitwan) Election Results 2017
In 2017 election of Madi Municipality (Chitwan district), candidate Thakur Prasad Dhakal of Nepal Communist Party (Maoist) (CPN (M)) secured 3,873 (26.31%) votes out of total votes of 14,719 and was elected as a Mayor. The first runner-up candidate was Khem Prasad Mahato of Nepali Congress Party (NC) who secured 3,829 (20.59%) of votes. The rest of 6 candidates for the position of Mayor secured combined 7,017 (23.84) of votes.
Similarly, for the position of Deputy Mayor, candidate Tara Kumari Kaji Mahato of Nepal Communist Party (Unified Marxist-Leninist) (CPN (UML)) secured 4,690 (32.04%) and was elected as a Deputy Mayor, while Sarita Mahato of Nepal Communist Party (Maoist) (CPN (M)) secured 3,804 (19.68%) of votes and came in second position. Other 4 candidates who contested for Deputy Mayor secured combined 6,146 (20.99) of votes.

As illustrated in the pie chart, there were total 214 candidates contested in various positions with gender ratio of 120 (56.07%) males and 94 (43.93%) females. Moreover, there were total 44 candidates contested for ward chairman positions in 9 wards. Same as, total 80 candidates had contested for ward member positions while 39 females and 37 females from depressed group (dalit) had contested for female member position in each ward.
