Kushma is a Municipality, which is located in Parbat district, Gandaki Province of Nepal. Kushma has total 14 wards, which are scattered across 93 square kilometers of geographical area. According to 2011 Census conducted by Central Bureau of Statistics (CBS), Kushma Municipality had total population of 39,600.

As of 2011, 5,141 population in Kushma Municipality were absent from their households, which equals to 12.98 percent of the total population. Absence of males was 4,616, which equals to 26.02 percent of total 17,739 males. Same as, 525 females were absent, which equals to 2.40 percent of 21,861 females. At least one member of 3,779 (36.65 percent) households were absent.

In terms of age, the largest population in Kushma Municipality were between 10 and 14 years of age with total 5,151. Gender wise, there were 2,554 males and 2,597 females of the same age group. The least populated age group was between 70 and 74 with total 789 population, which consistes of 387 males and 402 females. Top 5 most populated age groups were between 10 and 14 (5,151), between 15 and 19 (4,522), between 5 and 9 (4,440), below 4 (3,548), between 20 and 24 (3,386) with total population of 21,047. In contrast, bottom 5 least populated age groups were between 70 and 74 (789), above 75 (993), between 65 and 69 (1,090), between 60 and 64 (1,385), and between 55 and 59 (1,390) with total population of 5,647. The median age-group of total population falls between 35 and 39 and between 40 and 44 with average population of 2,102.

Gender wise, top 5 most age groups male population were between 10 and 14 (2,554), between 5 and 9 (2,276), between 15 and 19 (2,121), below 4 (1,880), and between 20 and 24 (1,227), with total population of 10,058. In contrast, bottom 5 least age group male population were between 70 and 74 (387), above 75 (468), between 65 and 69 (504),between 60 and 64 (561), and between 55 and 59 (678), with total population of 2,598. With regards to female population, top 5 age groups females were between 10 and 14 (2,597), between 15 and 19 (2,401), between 5 and 9 (2,164), between 20 and 24 (2,159), and between 25 and 29 (1,898), with total population of 11,219. In contrast, bottom 5 least age group male population were between 70 and 74 (402), above 75 (525), between 65 and 69 (586),between 55 and 59 (712), and between 60 and 64 (824), with total population of 3,049.

The population with age-group below 4 had male to female ratio of 1.13, which states that this age group had maximum males as compared to females. Similarly, age-group 25 to 29 had most female population as compared to male population with male to female ratio of 0.53. The age-groups below 4, 5 to 9 had majority of male population while age-groups 10 to 14, 70 to 74, 55 to 59, above 75, 15 to 19, 65 to 69, 50 to 54, 40 to 44, 45 to 49, 60 to 64, 30 to 34, 35 to 39, 20 to 24, 25 to 29 had majority of female population as per male-female ratios. Moreover, age-groups had eqivalent or almost equal numbers of male and female population with male-female ratios of 1.

There were 59.57 % (23,589 ) of independent population, the working age people between ages of 15 and 64 years. The dependent children, ages below 15 years, were 33.18 % with total number of 13,139. The dependent elderly population, aged 65 and above were 7.25 % with total number of 2,872. As such, total dependent population including children and elderly people were 40.43 with total number of 16,011

There were 11,474 women of child-bearing age-group of 15 to 49 years. Same as, the todlers or children of 4 years or below were 3,548. The ratio of woman of child-bearing age and the number of todlers state that, approximately 309 children were born per 1,000 women. This number is also roughly used as fertility levels when direct measures of births are not available.

According to Nepal Government records as of 2017, there were total 4,177 in Kushma Municipality with 1,976 (47.31%) of males and 2,201 (52.69%) females. There were total 81 schools. In average, 52 students were studying in each school.

According to 2011 census conducted by Central Bureau of Statistics (CBS), Kushma Municipality was inhabitted by mostly the people of Brahmin - Hill caste with total population of 16,645. There were as little as Hajam/Thakur caste with population of as little as 11 in total. People of several other castes who live in Kushma are Chhetri, Sarki, Kami, Damai/Dholi, Magar, Gurung, Newar, Sanyasi/Dashnami, Thakuri, Muslim, Gharti/Bhujel, Kumal, Tamang, Majhi, Bote, Rai, Thakali, Tharu, Yadav, Limbu, Teli, Haluwai, Hajam/Thakur, etc. Only the population of castes with above 1,000 population are illustrated in the table.

Top five castes of people in Kushma Municipality are Brahmin - Hill (16,645), Chhetri (5,519), Sarki (3,585), Kami (3,399) and Damai/Dholi (3,018) with total population of 32,166, which forms 81.23 percent out of total population of 39,600 in Kushma Municipality.

Out of total population of 39,600, there were total 871 (2.20%) disabled persons in Kushma Municipality with 482 (55.34%) males and 389 (44.66%) females. The physically disabled persons were 342, while mentally disabled people were 61 and intellectually disabled were 32.

Similarly, there were 138 people who were blind and 136 people were deaf, while 12 people were both blind and deaf. Moreover, 102 persons had reported of having speech problems. Total 48 people had multiple disabilities.

Out of total 10311 households in Kushma Municipality, there were 8,143 houses that were founded on mud bonded while 1,330 houses were cement bonded. Same as, 706 households were reported of being founded on RCC piller, 92houses were founded on wood.

With respect to wall of the houses, 7,867 houses were mud bonded, 2,173 houses were cement bonded, 53 houses were wood planks bonded, 67 houses were bamboo bonded and 26 houses had unbaked bricks on their outer walls.Rest of the houses were reported of having other types of outer wall, while some of them reported nothing of having the outer wall bonding.

There were several types of house roofs reported. Total 487 houses were reported of having thatch roofs while 5,342 houses had galvanized roofs. Similarly, 2,760 houses had roof of tile, 1,672 houses had RCC roofs, 3 houses had roof of woods while 0 houses were reported having roof of mud. As per 2011 CBS census, some of the houses had other types of roofs while some didn't report about the roof structure.

With respect to the toilets, 858 out of 10,311 houses didn't report of having a private toilet for their households. Nevertheless, 6,740 houses were reported of having flush toilet while 2,692 houses reported having ordinary toilets.

In Kushma Municipality, there were total 8,818 houses, which were equiped with piped tap water resources while 7 houses were reported of having tubewell water facilities. Same as, 100 houses had covered well while 119 houses didn't have any cover on their tubewell. Other resources of water facilities were spout water (1206) and river stream (35), which were reported of the household's source of water.

With reference to source of fuel, 7,368 households reported their source of fuel as firewood while 76 households had kerosene as their fuel source. The LP gas was used by 2,772 households as a source of fuel. Moreover, other sources of fuel were cow dung (3), bio-gas (66), fuel electricity (2), etc.

Same as, total 8,909 households had reported of having electricity as the source of their household's lighting. The households still using kerosene as source of light were 1,122, while 185 households used solar energy as source of lights. Total 0 households also reported of using bio-gas as a source of light. The ratio of use of electricity as compared to other source of light was 0.86.

out of 10,311 households in Kushma Municipality, 932 houses reported of having no any facility in their household while 9,218 households reported of using at least one facility. Households using at least one facility, such as radio, television, internet, etc. have been illustrated in the table below.MobilePhone was used by the maximum households with total users of 8,226, while Radio was the next mostly used facilities with total household users of 5,779.

According to 2018 Economic Census, there are total 1,461 establishments in Kushma Municipality that are involved in various economic activities. In those establishments, total 4,046 persons are engaged for the economic activities, as a self-employed or an employee, with total male engagement of 2,349 and female engagement of 1,697 persons.In every business, there were an average of 2.77 people engaged with average males are 1.61 and females are 1.16. The ratio of male to female engagement in the establishments are 1.38, which means as many as 1.38 males are enagement in the economic activities per female.
