Khandbari is a Municipality, which is located in Sankhuwasabha district, Province No. 1 of Nepal. Khandbari has total 11 wards, which are scattered across 123 square kilometers of geographical area. According to 2011 Census conducted by Central Bureau of Statistics (CBS), Khandbari Municipality had total population of 31,177.

Wardwise Population and Households

As per 2011 population census, Khandbari Municipality had total 31,177 population with 14,710 males and 16,467 females. Out of total wards, ward number 1 had the largest population 4,621, while ward number 5 had least number of population with 4,621.

In terms of age, the largest population in Khandbari Municipality were between 10 and 14 years of age with total 3,906. Gender wise, there were 1,985 males and 1,921 females of the same age group. The least populated age group was between 70 and 74 with total 497 population, which consistes of 233 males and 264 females. Top 5 most populated age groups were between 10 and 14 (3,906), between 5 and 9 (3,772), between 15 and 19 (3,463), below 4 (2,758), between 20 and 24 (2,689) with total population of 16,588. Gender wise, top 5 most age groups male population were between 10 and 14 (1,985), between 5 and 9 (1,927), between 15 and 19 (1,718), below 4 (1,420), and between 20 and 24 (1,014), with total population of 8,064. In contrast, bottom 5 least age group male population were between 70 and 74 (233), between 65 and 69 (327), above 75 (370),between 60 and 64 (473), and between 55 and 59 (552), with total population of 1,955. With regards to female population, top 5 age groups females were between 10 and 14 (1,921), between 5 and 9 (1,845), between 15 and 19 (1,745), between 20 and 24 (1,675), and between 25 and 29 (1,414), with total population of 8,600. In contrast, bottom 5 least age group male population were between 70 and 74 (264), between 65 and 69 (379), above 75 (450),between 60 and 64 (480), and between 55 and 59 (594), with total population of 2,167.

The population with age-group below 4 had male to female ratio of 1.06, which states that this age group had maximum males as compared to females. Similarly, age-group 20 to 24 had most female population as compared to male population with male to female ratio of 0.61. The age-groups below 4, 5 to 9, 10 to 14 had majority of male population while age-groups 60 to 64, 15 to 19, 45 to 49, 40 to 44, 55 to 59, 70 to 74, 50 to 54, 65 to 69, 30 to 34, above 75, 35 to 39, 25 to 29, 20 to 24 had majority of female population as per male-female ratios. Moreover, age-groups had eqivalent or almost equal numbers of male and female population with male-female ratios of 1.

There were 60.04 % (18,718 ) of independent population, the working age people between ages of 15 and 64 years. The dependent children, ages below 15 years, were 33.47 % with total number of 10,436. The dependent elderly population, aged 65 and above were 6.49 % with total number of 2,023. As such, total dependent population including children and elderly people were 39.96 with total number of 12,459

There were 8,371 women of child-bearing age-group of 15 to 49 years. Same as, the todlers or children of 4 years or below were 2,758. The ratio of woman of child-bearing age and the number of todlers state that, approximately 329 children were born per 1,000 women. This number is also roughly used as fertility levels when direct measures of births are not available.

Grade 1-12 Students & Schools

According to Nepal Government records as of 2017, there were total 1,856 in Khandbari Municipality with 902 (48.60%) of males and 954 (51.40%) females. There were total 62 schools. In average, 30 students were studying in each school.

According to 2011 census conducted by Central Bureau of Statistics (CBS), Khandbari Municipality was inhabitted by mostly the people of Chhetri caste with total population of 6,047. There were as little as Sunuwar caste with population of as little as 14 in total. Top five castes of people in Khandbari Municipality are Chhetri (6,047), Rai (5,669), Newar (2,838), Brahmin - Hill (2,468) and Gurung (2,350) with total population of 19,372, which forms 62.14 percent out of total population of 31,177 in Khandbari Municipality.

Population by Disability

Out of total population of 31,177, there were total 682 (2.19%) disabled persons in Khandbari Municipality with 383 (56.16%) males and 299 (43.84%) females. The physically disabled persons were 241, while mentally disabled people were 41 and intellectually disabled were 14.

Similarly, there were 107 people who were blind and 114 people were deaf, while 16 people were both blind and deaf. Moreover, 77 persons had reported of having speech problems. Total 72 people had multiple disabilities.

Household Foundation

Out of total 7446 households in Khandbari Municipality, there were 5,224 houses that were founded on mud bonded while 218 houses were cement bonded. Same as, 45 households were reported of being founded on RCC piller, 1,795houses were founded on wood.

There were several types of house roofs reported. Total 4,065 houses were reported of having thatch roofs while 3,111 houses had galvanized roofs. Similarly, 54 houses had roof of tile, 107 houses had RCC roofs, 9 houses had roof of woods while 1 houses were reported having roof of mud. As per 2011 CBS census, some of the houses had other types of roofs while some didn't report about the roof structure.

With respect to the toilets, 899 out of 7,446 houses didn't report of having a private toilet for their households. Nevertheless, 1,998 houses were reported of having flush toilet while 4,489 houses reported having ordinary toilets.

Utilities

In Khandbari Municipality, there were total 3,997 houses, which were equiped with piped tap water resources while 1 houses were reported of having tubewell water facilities. Same as, 73 houses had covered well while 582 houses didn't have any cover on their tubewell. With reference to source of fuel, 6,245 households reported their source of fuel as firewood while 81 households had kerosene as their fuel source. The LP gas was used by 1,015 households as a source of fuel. Moreover, other sources of fuel were cow dung (0), bio-gas (18), fuel electricity (21), etc.

Same as, total 5,740 households had reported of having electricity as the source of their household's lighting. The households still using kerosene as source of light were 1,284, while 313 households used solar energy as source of lights. Total 0 households also reported of using bio-gas as a source of light. The ratio of use of electricity as compared to other source of light was 0.77.

Facilities

out of 7,446 households in Khandbari Municipality, 870 houses reported of having no any facility in their household while 6,405 households reported of using at least one facility.
