Khandachakra is a Municipality, which is located in Kalikot district, Karnali Province of Nepal. Khandachakra has total 11 wards, which are scattered across 133 square kilometers of geographical area. According to 2011 Census conducted by Central Bureau of Statistics (CBS), Khandachakra Municipality had total population of 20,288.

As of 2011, 241 population in Khandachakra Municipality were absent from their households, which equals to 1.19 percent of the total population. Absence of males was 189, which equals to 1.83 percent of total 10,334 males. Same as, 52 females were absent, which equals to 0.52 percent of 9,954 females. At least one member of 160 (4.43 percent) households were absent.

Gender wise, top 5 most age groups male population were below 4 (1,639), between 5 and 9 (1,530), between 10 and 14 (1,405), between 15 and 19 (973), and between 20 and 24 (896), with total population of 6,443. In contrast, bottom 5 least age group male population were between 70 and 74 (71), above 75 (71), between 65 and 69 (124),between 60 and 64 (248), and between 55 and 59 (285), with total population of 799. With regards to female population, top 5 age groups females were below 4 (1,589), between 5 and 9 (1,469), between 10 and 14 (1,340), between 20 and 24 (1,015), and between 15 and 19 (1,000), with total population of 6,413. In contrast, bottom 5 least age group male population were between 70 and 74 (68), above 75 (69), between 65 and 69 (124),between 55 and 59 (193), and between 50 and 54 (286), with total population of 740.

The population with age-group 55 to 59 had male to female ratio of 1.48, which states that this age group had maximum males as compared to females. Similarly, age-group 60 to 64 had most female population as compared to male population with male to female ratio of 0.85. The age-groups 55 to 59, 45 to 49, 50 to 54, 30 to 34, 40 to 44, 35 to 39, 10 to 14, 5 to 9, 70 to 74, below 4, above 75 had majority of male population while age-groups 15 to 19, 25 to 29, 20 to 24, 60 to 64 had majority of female population as per male-female ratios. Moreover, age-groups 65 to 69 had eqivalent or almost equal numbers of male and female population with male-female ratios of 1.

There were 53.18 % (10,789 ) of independent population, the working age people between ages of 15 and 64 years. The dependent children, ages below 15 years, were 44.22 % with total number of 8,972. The dependent elderly population, aged 65 and above were 2.60 % with total number of 527. As such, total dependent population including children and elderly people were 46.82 with total number of 9,499

There were 4,524 women of child-bearing age-group of 15 to 49 years. Same as, the todlers or children of 4 years or below were 3,228. The ratio of woman of child-bearing age and the number of todlers state that, approximately 714 children were born per 1,000 women. This number is also roughly used as fertility levels when direct measures of births are not available.

According to Nepal Government records as of 2017, there were total 9,761 in Khandachakra Municipality with 4,870 (49.89%) of males and 4,891 (50.11%) females. There were total 37 schools. In average, 264 students were studying in each school.

There were as little as Kumal caste with population of as little as 11 in total. People of several other castes who live in Khandachakra are Kami, Brahmin - Hill, Chhetri, Damai/Dholi, Lohar, Sanyasi/Dashnami, Sarki, Badi, Magar, Terai Others, Tharu, Dalit Others, Tamang, Gurung, Muslim, Kumal, etc. Only the population of castes with above 1,000 population are illustrated in the table.

Top five castes of people in Khandachakra Municipality are Thakuri (7,327), Kami (4,407), Brahmin - Hill (4,353), Chhetri (2,169) and Damai/Dholi (1,129) with total population of 19,385, which forms 95.55 percent out of total population of 20,288 in Khandachakra Municipality.

Out of total population of 20,288, there were total 528 (2.60%) disabled persons in Khandachakra Municipality with 287 (54.36%) males and 241 (45.64%) females. The physically disabled persons were 238, while mentally disabled people were 28 and intellectually disabled were 8.

Similarly, there were 88 people who were blind and 87 people were deaf, while 12 people were both blind and deaf. Moreover, 46 persons had reported of having speech problems. Total 21 people had multiple disabilities.

Out of total 3612 households in Khandachakra Municipality, there were 3,529 houses that were founded on mud bonded while 32 houses were cement bonded. Same as, 1 households were reported of being founded on RCC piller, 7houses were founded on wood.

With respect to wall of the houses, 3,369 houses were mud bonded, 182 houses were cement bonded, 15 houses were wood planks bonded, 1 houses were bamboo bonded and 0 houses had unbaked bricks on their outer walls.Rest of the houses were reported of having other types of outer wall, while some of them reported nothing of having the outer wall bonding.

There were several types of house roofs reported. Total 1,858 houses were reported of having thatch roofs while 779 houses had galvanized roofs. Similarly, 876 houses had roof of tile, 18 houses had RCC roofs, 4 houses had roof of woods while 22 houses were reported having roof of mud. As per 2011 CBS census, some of the houses had other types of roofs while some didn't report about the roof structure.

With respect to the toilets, 1,378 out of 3,612 houses didn't report of having a private toilet for their households. Nevertheless, 800 houses were reported of having flush toilet while 1,404 houses reported having ordinary toilets.

In Khandachakra Municipality, there were total 2,648 houses, which were equiped with piped tap water resources while 0 houses were reported of having tubewell water facilities. Same as, 7 houses had covered well while 15 houses didn't have any cover on their tubewell. Other resources of water facilities were spout water (821) and river stream (80), which were reported of the household's source of water.

With reference to source of fuel, 3,307 households reported their source of fuel as firewood while 1 households had kerosene as their fuel source. The LP gas was used by 246 households as a source of fuel. Moreover, other sources of fuel were cow dung (0), bio-gas (10), fuel electricity (1), etc.

Same as, total 796 households had reported of having electricity as the source of their household's lighting. The households still using kerosene as source of light were 36, while 1,004 households used solar energy as source of lights. Total 0 households also reported of using bio-gas as a source of light. The ratio of use of electricity as compared to other source of light was 0.22.

out of 3,612 households in Khandachakra Municipality, 1,310 houses reported of having no any facility in their household while 2,242 households reported of using at least one facility. Households using at least one facility, such as radio, television, internet, etc. have been illustrated in the table below.Radio was used by the maximum households with total users of 1,709, while MobilePhone was the next mostly used facilities with total household users of 1,373.

According to 2018 Economic Census, there are total 853 establishments in Khandachakra Municipality that are involved in various economic activities. In those establishments, total 2,347 persons are engaged for the economic activities, as a self-employed or an employee, with total male engagement of 1,444 and female engagement of 903 persons.In every business, there were an average of 2.75 people engaged with average males are 1.69 and females are 1.06. The ratio of male to female engagement in the establishments are 1.60, which means as many as 1.60 males are enagement in the economic activities per female.
