There were 50,325 votes casted during 1999 House of Representatives elections in Kapilvastu District, Constituency No. 2. The candidte of Rastriya Prajatantra Party - Brijesh Kumar Gupta secured 24,699 (49.08%) votes and secured victory in the election. The runner-up candidate was Deep Kumar Updhaya of Nepali Congress Party who secured 18,585 (36.93%) votes and came in second position.
